My sister has a yellow Labrador Retriever that won't fetch, either. My Boxer fetchs till your arm gives out, and so did my previous ones! Sometimes, when we have had them together, her Lab will start to get interested in the game, but he was over 4 when I got my dog. Since your Golden is young, try taking her to a dog park or over friends that have dogs that do fetch. Have someone hold her leash nearby & you play fetch with their dog. When she seems really interested (& probably feeling left out), start playing the game with her. This might do the trick!

Dogs generally have to be taught to fetch. I would recommend getting a dog training book...there are a lot out there...look for the method that seems the best fit for you and the dog, and one that has the tricks you want to teach.

reward her for bringing things back to you. start by rewarding her for letting you take toys away from her, then for dropping the toy on the ground then for bringing things part way back, etc until she drops the item at your feet . It will take a few weeks, but she will get the hang of it

i have a golden retreiver too. and trust me, at age 1 golden retreivers are immature they dont listen they only want to play. at age 2-3 they will start calming down and listening to you more. now ur dog wants the toy to play with for himself and he does not want anyone to take it away.

i hit upon the simplest thank you to get the ball/frisbee back may well be to have a 2nd ball/frisbee on your pocket. That way while your canine comes working as much as you with the ball then coach/leap/ kinda of tease your canine as quickly as she drops the only in her mouth ..throw the only you have on your hand for her to fetch. and repeat......

why not take her 2 the park, or maybe dog obedience class? maybe she doesnt trust u so much yet, no affence, but this was how my puppy acted. oh, and also, if he's still like 5weeks to 9 months, theyre still learning, but dont rush him, dont worry, youll know when he's ready!, and make sure he feels enough @ home! try 2 bond with him alot as well!
