LOL false alarm! They were demons masquerading as dead loved ones.
This is something a Wiccan friend of mine used to say, but I have no idea where she gets it from.

Yes, sometimes demons masquerading as dead love ones, and the Bible say that. Go to church, talk to someone who know a lot about the Bible and investigate it. When my uncle died, he appears after death, saying he will kill my mon and the rest of my family. I knew he was a demon, not my uncle, and, he left when I say Bible versions and the name of God, Jehovah. I don't know why, but that name is so powerful to attack those demons. I sugest you should do the same as I am. Good luck

First-Why would you be friends with a Wiccan? Hopefully to help her. She got it from the fruit loop group she is a part of . None of it makes sense.
