What about some of the Pointer breed? They make great dogs to take on quail hunts...don't know bout the dove though....I knew someone that bred and hunted them. He took his on quail and other small game hunts. Here is a website that might provide further help to you then I have.

There are as many reviews about good quail dogs as there are searching classes. even with the undeniable fact that, numerous elements look to agree on a most popular team of breeds for searching quail. those contain (in no certain order): English pointer, English setter, German shorthair, Brittany spaniel and Vizsla.

It is a manner of preference but I personally like the German Shorthair Pointer, Pointer or Springer Spaniel. Irish setters are also good but seem to take a bit longer to train.

A Viszla, lots of natural ability and nice to live with. I do like English Pointers as well, but even a Pointer breeder friend of mine said Viszla have better hunting instincts.
