Yes. Just use cold water, doesn't have to be freezing. Each hair has little layers on it, like snake scales. Cold water makes them lay down, and hot water makes them stand out. They are shinier when laying down.

If the water is hot then it is more likely to come out because it will be too soft because the hair folicle is open which makes the scalp pores open up. Now on the other hand if the water is colder then the pores are closed and this makes it less likely to cobm out because the cold water made the hair stronger than the hot water. The hot water makes it weak and that is the best way to put it so that you can remember that when you go to the beauty palor. This is the home made recipe for shin for your hair 2 tablespoon of honey and 2 talbespoons of mayo and then 1 egg for protein and growth. Leave this on your hair for 2 hour and wash with luke warm water like you was going to give a baby a bth that kind of warm. I hope that I have help you out I did the best that I could.

Cold water, like cold air after blow drying your hair and shooting it with a blast of cool air, closes shut the hair shaft. Warm and hot water and air opens it up, therefore allowing more polutants to enter in, causing frizzies, promoting further oiliness if your hair is already oily, and just overall lack of luster. Cold water just shuts the hair shaft to seal in moisture, so as to not further damage the fragile hair we all have (no matter how coarse of thick is might be, it is still fragile, because what we see hair wise is actually dead hair. We need to do everything possible to make certain it looks well by treating it well with proper care, products, and styling tools).

I don't know about shinier, but I have curly hair and it always makes mine smoother. I think that the cool water smoothes down the hair (folicle?) and this could make it look shinier. I just use really cool water and keep rinsing until your hair feels cool all over

Once your hair is completely dry, finish it off with a cool blast of air to seal the cuticle.
The reason? If the cuticles are ragged, there is no shine...
and other shiny hair
Did you know that your hair needs Vitamin E for shine?
You can get this much needed vitamin by incorporating brown rice, nuts, wheat germ and leafy green vegetables into your diet.

Warm water opens up your hair shaft (that's what makes it look frizzy). Cold water (and no, it doesn't have to be freezing), closes your hair shaft so that it looks smooth. It's similar to when you're washing your face and you use warm water or steam to open your pores and then cool water to shut them.
