When you call a guy sweetie, what do you mean by that? Is it something you use to say to a guy to express that you are interested in him, or mainly another word for "you are my buddy, let's be friends".

honestly it can mean either. at the very least it means "you did something that made me happy and this is your tiny reward for it", at the most it means "i'm madly in love with you!". sorry. us chicks are loose with the cute names.

I guess you can say it means both... But it's also kinda like if some older woman says, "Oh. come here sweetie the doctor will see you shortly." That doesn't mean the nurse is hitting on you. Now if a girl your age tells you that it could be two thing. Flirting or playin around.

the answer would be all of the above...when a girl calls a guy sweetie it can mean multiple things...depending on the person girls call their husbands, boyfriends, and even friends sweetie...so if you want to be specific you should ask the person saying it to you and hopefully they'll be honest...

it is an affectionate term for someone you care about - more a friend i would say that someone you are interested in (that could be just me though). girls call each other sweetie from time to time as well as girls calling guys that are their friends sweetie.

most of the time its equivalent to "dude" just something to say instead of the guys name
especially if the girl is one of those outgoing flirty girls with lots of guy friends,
or if she just calls everybody that, even her girlfriends and the girls she hates
if i liked a guy, i would not have the guts to call him "sweetie" until i was sure he liked me back!!

sweetie is just a word we use, cause we feel lovable or your just a nice guy that needs to be called sweetie. its just a nice word to say.

it can mean both, try to listen how she calls other male friends, chances are good she likes you if she doesn't call them sweetie. good luck!
