English is the American language, my family came from Italy over 100 years ago, but I (along with the rest of my family) speak English....why is it so hard for "Latinos" to understand?

First of all, Pat Buchanan is a candy-coated racist just like Lou Dobbs. Secondly, it will not become a Spanish speaking country because those Latinos will be mostly Americans who speak English (third generation Latinos usually don't speak a drop of Spanish). For the Italian guy, do you think that 100 years from now those generations will still be speaking Spanish? If so, you need to study a little bit. Yes, in fact by 2050 the majority will be Latinos if we keep getting as many immigrants... so what? This used to be a mostly Native American country and now it's mostly White. America is not a white country. Now you might bring up the "Latinos are corrupt"... maybe, but those are the low-class latinos who come here but their sons and daughters will be Americans educated in American schools. Pat Buchannan, Lou Dobbs, etc. will be remembered like the Confederate soldiers are remembered now.

I stole this
It is the best
People who live in America should speak English and adapt to American culture. American culture isn't even a big thing since it is made up of many cultures and traditions, since we are such a diverse people. I do think that people who come here from other countries should respect America and learn the language because if an America were to move anywhere in the world they would need to adapt to that country. If an American moved to Mexico you can bet your butt that the Mexicans aren't going to start putting up road signs in English - the American will have to learn Spanish.
It isn't fair for Americans to have to learn Spanish or any other language, when our language is English

Spanish speaking countries have shown them selves to be even more corrupt and a failure than America ever has. So i'd say no the spanish won't become a majority, because there are plenty of people who still have the guts to oppose them.
And anyone who thinks theres nothing to worry about look to california, how would you like it if your state had the same problems it does. Oppose illegal aliens before its too late.

We speak English in America, if you do not speak English then you are seperating your self from the rest of the country. Being a seperate individual from your neighbors is a negitive thing, a can lead to bad things to come.
siervocal - I like what you said to a point, my big concern is the welfare of the American infrastructure.

i don't comprehend if Pat stated this or not, i am going to take your note for it. notwithstanding that's a very logical fact and somewhat genuine. a lot time, money, attempt, and lives of white u.s. has been spent on the Black inhabitants because the 60's and they have come alongside way with White u.s.'s help. notwithstanding rather of gratitude, purely resentment or perhaps hate is expressed in go back. What more effective do they choose? The extinction of the White people?.......extremely, sure, a number of them do!

Do I think that you need to speak english to be a good person...."NO" but I do think in order to live here you should learn the language to be a good American. I know people who have been turned down for jobs because they could not speak spanish....that is not right...why should we have to learn theirs and they not ours....I am not going to a spanish country....the are coming to mine and I should not have to learn their language unless I want to....and they should not have to learn mine for me to move there....Learn about the language and values of a country before moving there....

Pat Buchanan's over the top. What's needed is a level-headed, issue-focused approach on this. Illegal immigration is, well, illegal. It should be stopped, and immigration overall needs to be regulated. It's something that's important enough that it needs really top-notch stewardship, and penalties for violations.
I also support finishing the border fence.
