What type of punishment is suitable for someone who fights dogs?

In your opinion what is a suitable punishment for this abuse?

If you say jail time.. like how long?

Months... years? Should they pay a hefty or light fine too?

Really no punishment is suitable except death - but as that isn't going to happen, here's my opinion

Banned from owning dogs for life. 5 years in jail and 5 years volunteer work with the humane society - maybe 20 hours per week. I only assume that anyone that is fighting dogs is also betting on them so a big fine should be imposed too.

This is a case where any punishment that matches the horrific nature of the crime is too much for society to bear. These people are comiting terrible acts of cruelty, and any punishment that is suitable for those crimes dehumanizes the person who has to administer the punishment, and thus makes our society a worse place. In the end we are left with somewhat unsatisfactory solutions like jail time, fines and other undramatic climaxes to these stories.

Dog fighting should be a felony and prison time is in order, minimum of 5 years no parole. Generally these folks are also running drugs & guns and are a dangerous bunch. The cruelty involved in this so called "sport" is unimaginable.

Everyone needs to lobby to make this crime a felony.

i say jail time equal to the amount of time someone would face if the crime was on a human being and not a animal it a person kills a dog welll that should be punishable by life in jail and so on

Jail time..more than just a few months, permanent criminal record, and being forbidden to never be in possession of another animal (and have the authorities actually enforce that). Personally, I'd like to round these people up and inflict similar injuries on them (and that's mild).

Firstly ı am a calm person and sometimes fighting its not the solution but for ur opinion in that case if tht dog is mine or not ım not sure but ı can kill him or can mutilate coz the dogs are like people and their best friends are owner/us so we have to save them everytime when they needed us.Thats the best punishment coz if they fight them so they are not men and we dont have to think about them what we will do.Ohh noo ım a murderer now:-)

here's what happened to the last person i caught...i confiscated his dogs and arrested him...it was a first time so he only had to serve one night in jail and pay a fine..its only a misd b so they get off easy...but he didnt get his dogs back and they were placed in good homes..is that suitable, not to me but its the best i can do

Lock 'em up & force them to attend anger management classes as if they are abusing another person... Dogs might be animals, but they don't deserve to be abused, battered, or screamed at. I hate when people forget that they are animals who don't do things like pee on the rug or nip a stranger on purpose... it's their nature.

If you ask me... if you can't handle the occasional disobedience of a pet, dont get one... bc after all they are animals that are only domesticated for our own pleasure.
