Religious believers are quick to suggest that humanities problems have nothing to do with religion, it’s just bad choices of interpretation by individuals.

If you genuinely believe that humanities problems are not caused by religion, but by individuals who interpret religion the wrong way, then why not protect children from any form of religious teachings until they are adult and have a free unbiased mind to choose.

So many people have been criminally brainwashed from early childhood about religion and how they will be punished, that even today when in their hearts they know what they’ve been taught is false, they are just too scared to speak out or walk away from religion, without the help and support of others.

Is it time to think, learn and walk away from religion once and for all. Let’s make Earth a happy planet without all this wickedness.

Hey - NO.

I frequently condemn the religious zealots on this site but I defend anyone's right to believe and worship whatever they wish as long as it does not impact on others.

I would love to see the world walk away from religion and bring about world peace. That said I think it would be wrong to try and tell anyone what to think. If real choices are to be made then the only way is to help them to have the knowledge and understanding to make up their own minds. Leave the indoctrination techniques to the religious zealots.

Promote freedom of thought!!!

The master of deception is the negative force in this world. The main cause behind all things negative in this world. We are also in a fallen state in which we are easily lead astray by this negative deception. Everyone is subject to it. Life is a life long battle to overcome it. That's why there is no such thing as being saved until we have done all we can in life and stand before our maker and He says that we have done well. Christ is our positive anchor in this world. A child without a foundation in Christ, is like a great ship adrift on a stormy sea without a rudder and compass. Chances are, if they don't get this foundation as children, they will sink and it will be on the head of the parents who do not give them this foundation.

Yes, if that religion involves child molestation or human sacrifice. Which denomination of Christianity involves these things? Which branch of Christianity advocates the elimination of atheists as a group of people? None. Which group of Christians would so twist the canons of their faith as to hurt or brainwash children? None.

How about a little balance? Religion doesn't make people into monsters. There are plenty of other factors in our society that do a much more efficient job of that.

You, as the parent, teach them.

Proverbs 22:6 (NLT)
Teach your children to choose the right path, and when they are older, they will remain upon it

If you don't know what to teach them, then find out.

Matthew 18:6 (NLT) But if anyone causes one of these little ones who trusts in me to lose faith, it would be better for that person to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around the neck.

No.

Parents should teach their children right from wrong. Religion may not be the best way to do it, but it does have some interesting stories about Hell to scare the crap out of kids with.

In my life, I was kept loosely away from churches and religions. It was about 13 when I started to read and learn about others.

At about that age you can begin to make logical decisions and are better able to understand what you read.

So, keep religion from becomeing obsessive. The "I went to service every (day you go) and believe every word my (whatever) says" is a VERY bad sign.

Ever see the show Wife swap? Atheist children scare the living crap out of me... and Christian children are self centered, egotistical and obnoxious...

I teach my children about everything, every world religion and even the reasons behind the concept of there being no God... and by this, I will allow them to decide for themselves when they are OLD enough. ( I secretly baptized both of them in the pool though... when they were babies.) Tee hee

Atheist children are like children of the corn... they give me the heebie jeebies... Like little soul less soldiers for science and rationality... This world is the farthest thing from rational and little rational, computer generated kids are just weird...

i think people should teach their children what they know about god, but also give their children the freedom & desire to learn about other religions also so they can decide what they believe in themselves rather than just accepting what they've always heard to be true.

And you would have children rush headlong into believing what? Nothingness?

"Criminally brainwashed...?" Since when is it a crime to teach your children what you believe about God?
