Crystal Meth vs. Adderall-What is the difference?

I just saw last night's episode of A & E's Intervention "Christy" (very disturbing) & it reminded me of a girl I used to work with who took large amounts of Adderall daily. I was wondering what the difference was between someone addicted to meth and someone addicted to adderall? Are the short and long term side effects the same? Are the dangers similar? Why does it cause open sores? From the picking they do when all jacked up?

Is the high the same? For those who have done both-can you tell a difference in the way you feel?

there is no difference, i was addicted to meth for a long time and my friends thought i was going to die because i was so sucked up, the adderall will do the same thing to you, speed is so easy to get hooked on. i am clean from speed now, i just enjoy mary jane, for 5 years and i feel great now.

Please do not listen to "answers" from people who seem to have no education on the subject. Adderall is NOT methamphetamine. It is amphetamine. There is a huge difference. Although amphetimine salt or dextroamphetimine (generics for Adderall) are chemically related, there are quite a few links in the chain that separate the two. I'm sorry, I'm on my mobile so cannot link, but please look up methamphetamine on Wikipedia or a chemistry site. It will explain the chemical differences. In short, Adderall contains one of the compounds that can be manipulated chemically to BECOME methamphetamine, or crystal meth. It's kind of like comparing Vicodin to heroin. To some degree, the prescribed drug produces some of the same effects as the illicit drug, but in much more controlled, less severe amounts. Consider meth the inbred crazy cousin to your Adderall. You also have to remember that street drugs are heavily cut with all different kinds of crap, which adds heavily to their horrible side effects, etc. Your Adderall is pure, made in a sterile lab by people with genius IQs and PhD's (as opposed to being made with paint thinner in a bathtub by a guy with 3 teeth that dropped out in 6th grade). You are not a drug addict. Take it as prescribed by your doctor, who knows what he's doing, and you are fine. I take Adderall, my Harvard professor aunt takes Adderall, my husband was on it as a child. They prescribe it to children all the time. It's NOT anything like doing meth.

Big difference in the type of drug. The dangers with almost any serious drug are about the same.
I'm unsure about Adderall. Meth is a toxic drug. It's ingredients are not made for our bodies to digest. In response our bodies need to excrete these chemicals, and will do it through purging out of our skin, causing skin lacerations. A meth addict will sometimes pick, and once the picking starts, it's hard for them to stop. It's like poison coming out of the skin, and once you pick at it the poison will seep out onto another portion of the skin causing another laceration, and so on.

adderall is a lot better for you then crystal meth. the open sores come from doin meth, then bein up and not havin anything to do, so some of them get "stuck in the mirror". meth addicts also start losing teeth after awhile. they rot out of there head, but thats only if they smoke it. adderall isn't as near as addictive as meth. meth will make you feel great at first and youll get all your work done plus more, but after awhile all youll care about is meth and how to hide your addiction. and you'll do just about anything to get it. plus its got a horrible come down

I only see two major differences 1. one is legal, the other is not and 2. Meth is usually snorted or injected. Adderall is a quite potent stimulant, but is supposed to be "safer" than regular speed. I don't buy that at all. I used to be a speed junkie and I tried them both.
