Organic product/products are harder to produce. All items used needs to be passed by the Department of Agriculture and it's quite expensive to purchase fertilizer without any pesticides and time is very expensive. Since there are so many restrictions, the expenses are usually passed down to the customers.

Because by being organic, they aren't laden with pesticides. So, some of the crop is lost to pests. The smaller the crop, the more they have to charge to make up for the loss.

So worth the extra money though...

Generally because using organic pesticides and hand-tending of crops is more expensive than chemical pesticides and automated harvesters.

So, consumers pay for the added costs of production.
