I am an Ordained Pagan Minister.
first off i would have to say that the term Pagan needs defined.
Pagan in the early roman empire was used to describe anyone that was not christian. Jews, muslem, hindu,,,celts, etc. everyone.
later pagan became a deragatory term for people that worship more than one god...
as with most deragatory terms it's power is stolen when the people that it is meant to degrade embrace it.
now Pagan is generaly used to describe a person that believes in more than one god and is not really considered deragatory.
************************************************************************
Many christians will say that paganism is wrong, and by their religious beliefs it could be.
the 10 commandments say "thou shalt worship no gods before me."
there could be several meanings of this statement.
1, it could be taken as a literal and said to mean that you cannot worship any other gods at all.
this would make paganism (belief in many gods) wrong.
2, it could mean that as long as God was precieved as the top man on the totem pole, and that all other gods were seen as below him that it could be ok. but you should always look to him for any final answer.
this would indicate that paganism was ok.
3, because it says "before me" this could mean that in the presence of God you cannot worship any other gods.
thus if you were in a church or area dedicated to God that you cannot worship any other gods in his presence.
again makeing paganism ok.
*********************************************************
now as a pagan, i will tell you this
religious beliefs are only wrong if you believe them to be wrong.
religion is a very personell thing. Noone can tell me that what i believe is wrong. i get great joy and happiness from my gods and my religious beliefs. i Love my religion and i live my religion.
so i would say to thoes that would say that i am wrong,
"who are you",,"who are you that thinks that you have the right to judge me." "even by your own religion you have not the right of judgement for that is always reserved for the gods"
furthermore, if i do not worship your paticular god he has no power over me or my soul. so to anyone that would say to me
"you will burn in hell for your sins"'
i say to them.
it is your hell you burn in it....
Most pagans do not even believe in a Devil or a hell, therfore there can be no burning in it.

first of all... try spelling your words out properly. It may help in getting people to answer your questions if they can understand what is being asked. And second... there is nothing... I repeat NOTHING wrong with paganism. It's a spirital faith centered upon the earth. There's no devil worship in it at all... there is no evil to be found in it. There are even a few Christian holidays that can be traced back to times when Paganism was the known religion of the world. You have to form your own opinions about these things, but asking for input is a very good start to that!
People were told that Paganism was wrong because when the people in power decided to convert to Christianity, they made sure EVERYONE did. That's why it's been spread as being wrong. But now that the people in power don't control the whole of the masses... things have changed.
hope that helps in some small way!

Paganism is about worshipping life I believe, if you live in harmony with nature and the earth and sky you are already a practising pagan. Paganism got that label from crusading christians, who label all and any of the old gods and old religions as "demons", and pressuring the people into accepting their ways by destroying their beloved cultural practices, in which such societies hold so dear to their hearts.
Every religion claims to be the one TRUE way, or worship the one TRUE God... How do we know that THAT is the true god? Has anyone ever died, gone to have a chat with God and come back? Most of such experience coincide better with pagan ideas of seeing the body and the tunnel of light concepts, but NO ONE has ever seen God and come back to tell the story.
The only way we can know who is right or wrong after we die... for everyone its a 50/50 gamble, other than that it is all just hearsay based on emotional faith and no solid proof.
You got it right... Find out yourself which faith suits you best, each and every faith have their own uniqueness and beauty... except some like to trample on the beauty of others to make sure they are the only beautiful flowers left. Such a beauty queen mentality.
If the Creator exists, he made us all each with a brain and the power of intellect to think and analyse. The teachings given by God is flawless, but the people who write and edit thousands of years after are not flawless, thgat is why if you read the 4 gospels of the new testament, each of their accounts do not synchronise in more than various details... if they can be unsure about the story of Christ, how sure are we that later pastors and priests did not further distort the truth through flawed analogy??
Paganism is about as wrong as Christianity would be, just as Christian is as wrong as any other world religions. I do not succumb to the idea that God can be so narrow, that only if someone accepts the orthrodox christian way can they go to heaven. Before the westerners went to australia, the aborigines might never even have heard of Christianity... does that mean they are doomed to suffer eternally?? I dontthink so...
The same way, if a Pagan lives in harmony with people and earth, being kind, caring and helpful... and if the almighty sends them to hell... then you do the math ...
who deserves heaven? A kind and caring Pagan who MAY NOT be a Mother Teresa but at least doesnt harm others.... or a fiery Christian all out to "save" by killing the heart, Deadening the mind and crushing the spirit of the people whom he preaches to... and then leaving feeling really good about himself/herself?
Its strange that Christ never did that, but mo9dern day christians relish doing that to people....

Nothing is wrong with paganism. They are good people who believe in a higher power call it god or goddess or even zeus. Do a little research and you will find that paganism was around long before christianity and the church actually borrowed pagan symbolism in order to recruit pagans as christians.

Paganism reigned throughout northern Europe for a long time. They knew rituals and secrets that could be used to heal the sick. The Catholic Church proclaimed them as being evil and having "powers of the Devil" in order to turn people against Paganism. There used to be nothing in the Bible that dealt with magick; they were added so that the Church could have more power.
That is just part of the reason that the Scriptures are so corrupted now.

Other religions do not want to believe that anything else is the "right" religion. To accept the idea of that is to accept the idea that there religion might not be the right "one". The real truth is you will never know untill you are dead. They try and convert others to believe in there religion. They are told to in there bible. But pagans do not. Our job is to live in harmony with nature. Pagans have been around since the begging of time. Cavemen had paintings of pagan celebrations. Christians and Pagans at one time lived there life's together in harmony. But we all know how the world is then the Vatican wanted all the power and laws were passed to kill all pagans and witches. They built temples on top of SACRED pagan ritual spots. Pagans are none Violante people. They try to nurture the earth. They teach of peace and doing no harm. They believe in Karma or I should say the
Wicca Rede
Bide ye Wiccan laws ye must
in perfect love and perfect trust.
Live and let live,
fairly take and fairly give.
Form the circle thrice about
to keep all evil spirits out.
Soft of eye, light of touch,
speak ye little, listen much.
Deosil go by the waxing moon,
singing out ye Witches' Rune.
Widdershins go by the waning moon,
chanting out the baneful rune.
When the Lady's moon is new,
kiss your hand to her times two.
When the rippling waters flow,
cast a stone and truth ye'll know.
When ye have and hold a need,
harken not with others' greed.
With a fool no seasons spend,
lest ye be counted as his friend.
Merry meet and merry part,
bright the cheeks and warm the heart.
Mind ye threefold law ye should,
three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is anow,
wear the star upon thy brow.
True in Love ye must ever be,
lest thy love be false to thee.
In these eight words, the Wiccan Rede fulfill
"An' it harm none, do what thou wilt."
.
Christianity took many pagan holidays and turned them into there so that they could convert pagans. The more the pagans fought the more violent it got and that brings us to the burning times.
I do not care what others believe that is not my place on this earth. My place is to raise my children and love them and live life. Enjoy the breath that is given to me. I believe in the God of Heaven and the Mother of the earth.
I do not care what the bible says. It was written after my religion was established. If loving life is going to send me to "hell" then that is where I will go because I have more peace in my life now than I did as a christian.

There is nothing wrong with it. I have been Pagan for 13 years. The simple modern definition of Pagan is "not of christian beliefs". The term is acutally much older.
Paganism (from Latin paganus, meaning "a country dweller" or "civilian") is a blanket term which has come to connote a broad set of western spiritual or religious beliefs and practices of natural or polytheistic religions, as opposed to the Abrahamic monotheistic religions. "Pagan" is the usual translation of the Islamic term mushrik, which refers to 'one who worships something other than Allah'. Ethnologists do not use the term for these beliefs, which are not necessarily compatible with each other: more useful categories are shamanism, polytheism or animism. Often, the term has pejorative connotations, comparable to heathen, infidel and kafir (كافر) in Islam.
In colloquial use, it would mean much the same as calling someone a 'bumpkin' or a 'hillbilly'. Paganus was almost exclusively a derogatory term. (It is from this derivation of "villager" which we have the word "villain", which the expanding Christians called the Pagans of Northern Europe/Scandinavia). From its earliest beginnings, Christianity spread much more quickly in major urban areas (like Antioch, Alexandria, Corinth, Rome) than in the countryside (in fact, the early church was almost entirely urban), and soon the word for "country dweller" became synonymous with someone who was "not a Christian," giving rise to the modern meaning of "pagan."[1] In large part, this may have had to do with the conservative nature of rural people, who were more resistant to the new ideas of Christianity than those who lived in major urban centers.
Blessed Be )O(

it depends on what you consider a pagan. if it's someone who's not a Baptist Christian, then everyone except Baptists are supposedl pagans. if it's someone who worships material gods (like statues and stuff) and makes human sacrifices, then hardly anyone is a pagan. If its someone who's not of the Christian faith...well, that just plain doesn't make sense, just like the Baptist example. Because people just have different ways of loving God/Allah/Divine Mother/etc. In other words, paganism was invented to make those who didn't follow the Christian/Catholic path look like they were bad. They're "heathens". Which they aren't. So personally, I think paganism, besides the whole human sacrifice thing, is just a made-up concept. Says someone only partially of the Christian faith. ^_^ God's supposed to love all people, so why would he call certain people pagan and punish them? he's supposed to be a LOVING God! LOL

Hello there.
Im a Bible thumping holy rollin Jesus freak.
If you wish to be pagan then you have that right. Paganism however is a large term. It is like saying "everyione who is not Christian" It originally refered to the Europien county folk. In modern days it pretty much refers to people who will piece together verious new age beliefs and call it eclectic. Sort of a cafiteria style belief system.
So I would say there is nothing wrong with Paganism other then it is not Christian and you will find as a rule they will gladly accept any belief except Christianity. You want to see a coven of Love and Light feiry Woccans grow Horns and spit fire.. Tell them your Diety is Jesus.
It was through this lifestyle that i came face to face with Jesus himself. I owe the pagans a lot for that. I had a blast at some of the gatherings.
I would suggest you be careful though as with anything there are a few creeps amoung the new agers..
God Bless ya
