It seems that suddenly everywhere I go, people are constantly spitting. Men, women, and children all seem to think nothing of doing this in front of anyone else. Is it just me that finds it so gross and unsanitary? I wish I could come up with a short phrase that would make them realize how disgusting I think it is, but doesn't offend them. Any suggestions? Thanks

I think its totally gross. I would think a look of disgust should be enough to do it.

Okay, who's spitting. There will be no spitting while I'm around. Let practice our etiquette here. The rules are:

1. It is mad manners to scratch your butt in public. If you are just going a die, then okay, just a discreet rub -- that's it.

2. Do not pick your nose. Come on I know boogers can't itch. A simple blow with tissue is acceptable.

3. And what's with grabbing your crotch? Do you think you're a rock star or something? Please!

4. And spitting.. People what are you thinking! Were you raised in China? No, it is totally socially unacceptable. Pick up a different hobby.

Overall, I think that humor is the most effective way to shame people into good behavior.

Spitting is vulgar and can spread disease and there is NO excuse for doing it in public despite what Barbie2 may think. If I were you,I'd wave a Kleenex in the offenders direction and say " Need a tissue? It would be more sanitary." Don't worry about offending spitters, they deserve to be embarrassed.

I agree with you it is gross, and why worry about offending them aren't they offending you by their behaviour.

I don't understand what the big deal is either about spitting but it just shows to me how children aren't taught the right values anymore, doesn't anyone take time to teach their children real morals and values anymore. It's everywhere, small towns not exempted.

How about were you born in a baseball field?

I am a spitter and sometimes you have things that are in your mouth that's too gross to swallow and worring about what someone thinks is the least thing on your mind. You just have to get the gross stuff out of your mouth before you throw up. Also if i swallow too much saliva it makes me feel sick at the stomach and all of the saliva i have swallowed will come back up in a big blob of vomit. Now does that help you to see another view. Then you have some people who spit just for the heck of it. Now that's gross to me too.

Well, you can't exactly talk to kids nowadays with out them talking back with attitude..unless the are related and or a friend of the kids you can't say much....Oh yes,I think its gross and I have taught my kids that just spitting for no reason is rude and gross ...but if they have to get it out by all means but always away from the beaten track..nobody would want to step in or on it..Its all in the upbringing...

Spitting is a sure sign of a crack user because the crack is cut with a substence that creates phelm. Its been over two years since I had a renter who was a user. He seemed to be such a nice person too. Other than the spitting of course.

Spitting is bad manners and if you must spit it should be done in private. People who spit in public show that they are low class and unfortunately most would not listen if you did approach them on the issue. If it's your children, that's a different story.

It is disguting ,I agree. I always wonder if i'm stepping into someone's TB germs.I don't think aanything is smart too say . if your grandchildren are doing it, I would say something in a positive way other wise I'd keep my mouth shut and my shoes off of the furniture.

"Thank you for spitting in front of me, it is so attractive".
I hate this spitting fad. I never say anyone but a red neck spit when I grew up.
