you should feel a little pissed off because some people may feel like you are an irresponsible paretn because you left them for a split second but accidents do happen so don;t feel too bad as long as the kid was not hurt badly everything should be okay

Hey unless they expect you to be superwoman, they can't be mad at you. It's the parents of the little girl that is to blame if you ask me, taking care of one toddler is hard enough, 8 kids, close to impossible, if your head didn't explode you should be proud.
PS if you're gonna go to the bathroom, no one expects you to take all 8 with you (that'd be awkward) but make sure someone is there with them. There are a lot of creeps in this world.

I'm sorry about your nephew.

Where was the other child's adult supervision?

It is normal for you to feel responsible, but your circumstances were certainly extenuating. You'd have had a similar problem if you were changing a diaper and then you really had one trying to comfort your nephew and all the other children.

Again, I want to know where that little girl's adult supervision was.

Where kids are involved, accidents are bound to happen. Sounds like you had your hands full. What was his mom doing when it happened. Is she catching some of the blame, not that anyone should be to blame. It was an accident.

Don't feel guilty kids get injured all the time. You are allowed to go to the bathroom without being blamed for being irresponsible.

I hope you took him to emerg, and called the cops. He probably would have been hit even if you were standing right beside him. Its not your fault. Its the fault of the parents of the kid thathit him for not teaching her to be gentle around smaller kids.
