A church singles group is a good start. They have groups for singles. If you are not religious, then you can always start an intrest group of some kind that meets at a local coffee shop (a book club for example).

social events that you have an interest in. People have told me, home deposit, sport events, bars and church gathering. but it has never worked for me.
