What do you mean different? Was he looking into your eyes? Was he staring at you? Was he hanging on to your every word? If your answer is yes, then, he likes you
And by different if you mean distant or uninterested or whatever, chances are that he doesn't. He might not know you that well so, he's being 'different' around you.
Don't worry so much, sweetie. Go talk to him more often. Get to know him better. Flirt a l'il bit. He'll fall for you..Really

maybe it all depends on how he acts towards you if he is all googly than he probably does like you if he acted all cool around you than he probably likes you to but if he tried to fight you or was dissing you he probably doesn't
