the first religion ever, would probally be of some sort of storm or fire.

as to that being correct,,, religion is many things, bur no one religion is correct,

this is because there are many differant people that all search for something differant in their religious beliefs. no one religion will satisfy the spiritual needs of every human on the planet. so religion is largely a personell choice.

I am a Pagan that studies the Native American path, (Apache to be exact) i find that the Native Americans and the European Pagans believe in many of the same things,
the large differance

Pagans believe in many gods.

Native Americans believe in one god. and many spirit guides and
helpful spirits.

the Native Americans can trace their beliefs back further than most, the Celtic can trace their history back many thousands of years.

every religion has a creation story and that implies that it is the only religion. however at the founding of these religions the WORLD was a very small place,,,usually any body of water that could not be seen acrost or walked around was the end of the world. so when a god says i created all that you see, people think that this means the world...well you can see where this is going...

i can see where every religion could be totally true and correct to the people form an area or the poeople that choose to believe in that religion.

The first religion was "created" by the first humans, which originated in the region now called Ethiopia or the general East Africa. The Native Americans did not come about until tens of thousands of years after humans first evolved.

But just because it is the first religion does not mean it is the true one, by any means. If you never saw a picture of the earth taken from a space-craft, you would have NO IDEA that the Earth was round. You would assume it was flat, because to us it looks flat, right?

If you knew nothing about the patterns of water evaporation and atmospheric recondensation that cause it to rain, you would assume there was some "magical god" that controlled the rain.

Religion is what we "make up" to explain what we don't understand about our world. Eventually, science comes along and gives us a true explanation. Now we know that the world isn't flat, and that there is no "Magical Juju God" that we sacrafice women to if we want it to rain. The list goes on forever.

One of the major goals of religion is to explain what happens to us after we die. It is something that every culture has a different belief about, and something we can never know...because the dead don't come back.

As for "out of body experiences" that people have when they temporarily die, the visions of flying and beautiful light and euphoria are actually caused by a chemical called DMT. When our body thinks we are about to die, it releases the chemical N,N-dimethyltryptamine into our brain (where it is produced). This chemical is a POWERFUL halucinogen, similar to taking a ridiculous amount of acid (LSD). This is why people have the experiences they do. It's simple chemistry. (I'm an Environmental Chemist, by the way, for the University of South Florida...so I'm not making this up. Go look it up).

Anyway, my point is that it's impossible to know the real TRUE religion, and that before you go attribute something to a mystical god in the sky or sea, try to find out the science behind it first.

Native Americans were only around for the last 12,000 years or so (some say 27 to 30,000).

The first humans were in Africa, perhaps 160,000 years ago. I hear they worshiped an early for the the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Food was very import, and noodles and meatballs would have been especialy desirable during early religious feasts. The big event, which for sure would be enough to make believers out of early, and painfully sober, men and women, was the discovery of beer.

Being Native American myself I have to say that the reverence to Mother Earth had to be the first religion. Christianity came much later after Christ was on earth. Hence , the name CHRISTianity (look at your basic history) It's been bastardized (in my opinion) ever since so as to control the masses. For instance, The Pagan winter solstice ( called Yule ) was taken over by those wanting to convert the festivities of the Pagan commoners to Christianity.. It has been proven ( again by dates and alittle bit of math) that Christ was born sometime in October ..hmmmmm? Not at Christmas.
Just alittle food for thought.
No offense intended to anyone.
Blessed Be~

The first religion was animism. The native Americans didn't have the first religions. They only go back about 12,000 years. And no, just because something was first doesn't mean it was never improved upon. Use some common sense.

Hinduism is the oldest still-existing religion of the world. It also happens to be the third largest religion in the world. It is not founded by one person nor is it based on one text, more emphasis is laid on Realization of the Truth by each Individual. Hinduism as it is known is a misnomer for the religion of the Vedas. It is not even a religion but a way of life. It can be rightfully called as Sanatana Dharma which can be very loosely translated to Eternal Natural Law.

I'll take Christianity thanks!

This is nearly impossible to answer.

The Indian Vedas have an oral tradition dating back at least 9000 years! Thats OLD compared to todays religions! And we have to recall that this tradition dates back 9000 years - not that it was created 9000 years ago, but that it was fully formed and was an oral tradition 9000 years ago - so it is likely much older than that!

There is a tribe in Africa - discovered by white people in the 1960's, who claimed that they came from Sirius, the Dog Star. The tribe was called the Dogon Tribe. Their oral tradition indicated that they came from this star system, which was really two stars that revovled around each other. Scientists laughed at this notion. In the 1990's. the Hubble Telescope pointed itself at Sirius, and found out that it is not only two stars, but actually THREE stars that revovled around each other. How does a stone age tribe of men learn this FACT??????

Religions have evolved through out. What is religion but obedience to the MOST HIGH in an organized fashion so that the rights of everyone are preserved.

Adam was the first man who obeyed God in my belief as a Muslim. Obedience is the foundation of religion. When the Lord Most High gave the FIRST ORDER and gave us the ability to obey or not obey him, then and only then the first law of the first religion was created.

We call this obedience to the Laws of the Most High ISLAM, or submission of our will to the Will of the Mighty One!

Thus by that definition, as more and more commands were added by the Lord as we became more capable of obedience, the religion kept evolving.

It is like raising a child through school. When you are in Kindergarten, the expectations are limited to learn interaction with other children sharing and perhaps some amount of basic learning. As you grow up, your needs increase.

Similiarly the first communities of mankind were simple ones and their needs were simple, so the commands of the Lord were also simple. As society became more and more complex, the religious laws evolved with social and human development.

In our belief the religion given to Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Mohammad are all one continuum we call ISLAM or submission of our collective wills under the Will of our Maker. In our belief the KINGDOM OF GOD shall come when all humankind will collectively accept obedience to the laws of the Most High, and teach each other with respect dignity and kindness in peace!!

Someday that will happen. When that will happen, we will see the KINGDOM OF GOD on Earth, when all people will obey the MOst HIgh and love and cherish each other as the creatures of the HOLY ONE. Amen.

I hope this makes sense.

There were religions in the tribes that we have never heard of. Those religions, like the fairy tales today, attempted to explain things that were not able to be explained, and were used to control the population for the good of the leaders. They offer easy answers to questions that have no easy answers. There is no "true" religion, because it doesn't exist - it's just a con to separate the naive, ignorant and uneducated from their money.
