Hey, that's not nice... don't do it! Would you put a child up there?
How about the effect of the sun and the wind and all the motion (there's nothing to cushion the movement, remember) and possible FUMES that you won't be exposed to because of the car's doors, windshields, windows, etc.? You'll be inside the car... how will you KNOW what suffering or discomfort your cat will be experiencing?
Oh, c'mon, have a bit of common sense! Man... don't do that if you have any kind of feelings! That is cruel and inhumane! You only THINK he'll sleep the whole time... his little heart could well be racing for a prolonged period of time and you just might have a very sick kitty, or a dead one!

Would you want to travel this way? It is inhumane...if you don't have room in the car, put something else in that area and put the cat in a carrier in the vehicle!!!! This will cause great distress for your cat, and has the high potential to make him sick! Not only that, but there are many things (rocks, bugs, etc) in the air that can get in those holes and hurt him. Between this post and your post about neutering him yourself...you have no clue! You obviously care nothing for this cat. Do both of you a favor and surrender him!

I am not sure but it seems like it would suffocate him. Can you imagine trying to breath with air blowing in your face at 70miles an hour. If you put the holes on the side, there may be no crosswind and it would also get very hot in the luggage compartment. That is just not right. I think you need another plan.

why don't you give up your seat in the car and YOU travel in the luggage container? Are you sick in the head or something? Would you do that to your child? This may be an animal we are talking about but that is unbelievably stupid and cruel, you do not deserve to own pets if you can even consider that as an option. I hope someone reports you and they re-home your cat with someone responsible.

If it isn't illegal it should be. The cat needs to be inside the car for such an extensive trip. For heavens sake, don't even consider this. At least you aren't thinking about having him follow the car on a leash!
You can always tie other inanimate things to the top of the car.

Deffinently don't put him up there! Put something that will be inside the car and switch it places with the cat. I don't belive it's illegal, but the cat may get frightened and jump around in the box and knock it loose, then it will fall and you'd have to get a new cat!

I think this is illegal, as well as cruel. Imagine if you get into an accident, and Gangsta goes flying about the cage, or comes off of the roof...

Tie yourself to the top of the car and the cat can have your seat in the car. That should solve your problem

Are you serious? That is inhumane. If you get caught doing that you will get animal cruelty and endangerment charges. Why do you even have a cat if you can't find space for it in your car?
