Squeeze some lemon or lime juice on the avocados.

Never put an avocado in the refrigerator until it is mashed up with some lemon or lime juice for guacamole.
Buy hard green 'cados if you aren't going to use them that day. Ripen them overnight by putting them in a brown paper (not plastic) bag. The next day, those little guys should be soft to the touch but not squishy.
Make your guacamole, then chill for 30 minutes to a couple of hours to meld the flavors.
Left over guacamole (who ever heard of such a thing?) can be covered and stored in the fridge for a day or two.

Sprinkle either lemon or lime juice or even a little vinegar over the half you're not going to eat. Leave the skin on and the pit in and wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or a plastic baggie with all the air squeezed out.

If I don't think I'm going to use the other half for more than 2 days or so, I'll make guacamole (with lime juice) out of it and put plastic wrap directly over the stuff.

Worse comes to worst, avacodo makes a wonderful facial mask and is a great heavy duty conditioner for your hair :)

Two things you can do. One is use a food saver to suck the air out of the baggie and it will last 2 weeks! Or dip the cut half into some lemon juice, paper towel it off the excess and store in an airtight container.
I grew up with Avacados! Love them too!

Always splash with some sort of citrus acid like lemon or lime juice.

If you're only going to use half of the avocado too, leave the pit in the half you're not using. That way, there's at least half of the fruit that won't brown.

Yes, they can be frozen. However, I don't think they would dry well

put lemon juicn on the exposed portion. If you are not going to eat the whole thing, leave the skin on the part you want to save. put into a zip lock bag and get as much air out of there as possible.

dont take the pit out of the half that you want to save. if you put that in the refridgerator it will last for a day or two without turning brown. otherwise use lemon juice.

Don't take out the seed. Also if you make a dip with avocado, leave the seed in the dip until you serve it.
