Cats spray, usually by marking territory. You can try to shampoo the carpet. You just might have to remove it depending on how many times the cat sprayed on it. Sorry that really smells bad!

Well, what I would recommend is looking up a book I found to be very help full. It should be able to help you with that & lots of other "around the house progects". The name of the book is known as "Haliey's Hints". You can most likely find it at "Barnes & Noble" Until then though.

You might try this recipe I found in his book. 1/2 half of a cup of powderd laundry detrgent, 1 teaspoon of Amonia. Yes I did say Amonia. And 1 quart of warm water.

What you do is you mix them together and make a layer of froth with a wisk, or you could go to the store and buy a little saop faom shooter. That reduces the amount of work you need to do, as far as making the froth goes.

You put it in the soap shooting device and shoot the place where it smells of cat pee. And with a sponge wipe it off. Let the carpet dry and then vacume it thourghly.

That should at least help until you are able to get the book. If it doesn't let me know. I'll see what else I can come up with. Have a nice day.

I've tried everything and I absolutely needed to get rid of the smell. I was moving out of an apartment. The only thing that worked is a product called Zero Odor. It doesn't have it's own smell, it just destroys the urine smell entirely. I'm not sure how, but it does. No, I don't work for the company or anything. It sure beats replacing the carpeting and sub-carpeting.

You need to get a cat odor neutralizer...like Nature's Miracle for cat odor. I've tried a few and that one works the best. What I usually do is treat the spot, let it soak a few minutes and dab it up. I'll also add some to the carpet shampooer as a whole carpet treatment. If you get a black light as well, you can check for spots that still have odor (cats smell more than we do)...if it glows, it still smells.

I hate to be the one to tell you this. Your carpet is doomed. Oh you can clean it with watever you want and the smell will go away, But someday somebody will visit and ask, "Whats that smell?"

You see we human come equiped with something call aulfactory fatigue. Its a natural defence that makes strong odors seem to dissapear. Its the reason why when somebody farts, you stop smelling it after a few moments. Unfortunately We catlovers after years of cleaning catboxes, have a bit of difficulty smelling the stuff after it's been cleaned up. Any of the cleaners suggestions will get rid of the smell for YOU but someone with a keen sence of smell who doesn't live with cats will likely be offended at a later date.

Cats haveing decended from desert animals have a biology that helps them conserve water, unfortuneatly the down side is that their urine is extreamly consentrated and very stinky. Wood floors and tiles can be cleaned, but anything that soaks up liquids is doomed. Sorry I've lost many things this way.

Yea febreeze and carpet fresh don't work on that at all! If you don't have a bissel go rent a rug doctor, I used vinegar and water, went over it twice and then 1 more time for good measure after it dried. Haven't had any whiff of it since.

Shampoo not only the carpet, but the padding too. Also, use a black light to make sure you are cleaning all the right places. Cat urine glows under a black light. Odo-Ban works well also, on removing all sorts of odors, including most cat urine.

If the cat pee is "fresh" from your cat then dab it with water and soap than add a cleaning-scented cleaner and dab that. So you will be sure that the stain AND the smell is gone. Hope I helped!

I use plain baking soda in the litter box, and it works great. I'm not sure if it would help a carpet, but it's cheap and harmless enough to give it a try.

Try Simple Solution - i buy it at petsmart. I don't have cats, but it works WONDERS on dog urine and throw up....it even smells good, not like a regular cleaner. I buy it in the gallon so that I am always prepared!
