I am thinking about neutering my cat Gangsta because he keeps spraying on my furniture in my house. I don't have a lot of money so I figured if I got the right tools I could do it. Has anyone done this before? I know I will need plyers and a razor but where do I get the seditive for my cat? Any suggestions

You might be fortunate that the cats are male. This implies that you can wait until which you could retailer up the cash wanted. If money is so tight that you can't shop $5 per week except you have got ample to get it executed competently then you have to supply the cats away or promote them. Anything you do, do not do this your self. The cats will emerge as loss of life an extraordinarily painfull loss of life and you sound like you care about them otherwise you wouldn't be asking the query. You definitely recognize that this isn't a excellent notion or you wouldn't have requested. Try and save some cash, name round some locations will be more cost-effective than others or you are going to need to get rid of the cats. Don't DUMP THEM!!! Wild cats are pests. Alternately you might simply put up with the spraying and as your question makes it sound like you don't are living in a suburban area how many other feminine cats are round in your cats to impregnate. Please don't do this your self and take a look at to avoid wasting the money to get it completed professionally. Cats are valued at just a little sacrifice keep a few bucks here and there you will get there finally. From a cat lover

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS. You don't even know the correct tools to use!!! And I'm not telling you! If you don't know what you're doing you could seriously mame or even kill your cat...this is illegal! And vet care to correct the damage you do (if he lives) will cost a hell of a lot more than doing the surgery right! If you can't afford roughly $50 to neuter your cat, why do you have one? Call the humane society...they may be able to point you towards low cost vet care. But really, the best thing for your cat is to find him a home that will care for him and not resort to animal cruelty!!!

I don't see why people are flipping out. Breeders of all sorts of animals do it at home, although they are trained to do it properly, which you are not. Go to a breeder, or ask a vet about a payment plan or where it can be done professionally and cheaply. Many livestock vets and breeders will do it cheap or know where you can go to get it done cheaply.

Doing it yourself as an untrained person could and will most likely be a very bad idea and result in even larger vet bills to fix the damage or may even kill your cat. I have seen rabbit breeders do rabbits, and cat breeders do cats, it is much more complicated then people think and does require more tools then thought, it's not something you can do one off at home after reading a book. Also, cat clubs and societies will know where you can go, and most use vets who give discounts to club members, so that is always an option as well.

Rubberbanding is only done in cattle, and can cause some serious problems if not done correctly. Look up cheap spay neuter clinics, almost every major has one or more of these, where they neuter/spay for pennies on the dollar, or for free. There are also other orginations, like Friends of Animals, that will pay for the neuter for you if you prove inability to pay. Much more humane this way. I agree with other people who have also said, if you can't afford to have the cat up to date on vaccines, pay for medical issues, then you shouldn't have the cat. Also, if you're cat is old enough, and has sprayed for long enough, neutering him won't cure his spraying habit. It will become a habit, if he has had the chance to do it long enough. There are drugs out there for behavioral problems that are relatively cheap. Especially since companies like Pet Meds, Pet Meds Express, etc came out.

There are tons of rescue places that will neuter for a discount if not for free. You will kill your cat if you do it yourself. Between this and wanting to put your cat on the luggage rack, you should just give the cat up to a shelter.

some of these answers are really wild believe me, anyways call your local humane society on where you can get help with your cat, there is an organization called PAWS,look in your phone book for a number near you. for heaven sake don't cut into kitty, kitty is your friend and i don't think you would ever want someone to fix you who doesn't know what they're doing.

go somewhere like a local Co-Op or TSC. There is a "clamp" you can buy, they also have a thing that puts rubber bands on the nuts so they fall off in a few days. People castrate bulls/boars all the time on the farm and nobody calls any animal rights groups.

No. You cannot do this yourself,it would constitute animal cruelty, and you will be prosecuted! There are many low cost programmes you could go for,or talk to your vet to try to work out some kind of payment plan. Think about this. If you do attempt this, which would be very cruel of you indeed, what if you KILL your cat as a result, could you live with that????? Or are you that callous that you would not care???? If you cannot afford to care/treat your cat,why do you have one???????????

Call your local vet or the humane society. They usually have some sort of program where you can get your pet spayed or neutered at a discounted rate.

You would have to be pretty stupid to try to do this yourself, and you'd probably kill the cat.
