Because science searches for truth and proof, both of which are not anything religion can offer or counter on a rational basis..

Religion isn't always threatened by religion. This is a false dichotomy. Religion and science are not mutually exclusive to one another. Theology and science complement each other. Science explains natural processes and makes discoveries about the world, but there are some things that science alone cannot explain, like reason, justice, peace, law, beauty, and love for instance. These concepts cannot be analyzed in a laboratory or observed empirically nature because they are abstract. Theology does a much better job at explaining these things.
However, there are some places where theology and science will butt heads, and this is generally in the regions of origin. Scientific explanation of origin is done through abductive reasoning which looks for theories that best fit the evidence. Abductive reasoning does not use empirical observation and does not guarantee the results. Abductive arguments are based purely on reason alone, so it is fair to have epistemological debates between theology and science.

All religions, through-out human history, have served as attempts to control the masses!!!
Science embraces the notion that when a phenomena is observable and repeatable it allows a rational thinking human observer to acknowledged, choose and understand the phenomena as fact.
On the other hand, religion always uses "smoke and mirrors" to persuade, convince, scare, and force dogma on others!
Religion is an example of a genetic dysfunction of the human species and offers nothing as being repeatable or observable.
Have fun but be safe.

The better question is why is pseudo-science always so threatened by the Bible? I never get mad at an evolutionist for being evolutionist. I just think them to be dead wrong. On the other hand, when I've made it clear that I don't believe that evolution, with it's multitudinous contradictory theories ( meaning there is no one agreed upon evolutionary theory ) is true I've had evolutionist red faced mad about it.
After all, scientist can't even be sure if Pluto is a planet or a moon; and people want to put absolute trust in them that there is no God that will judge man for his sin. Sounds like a poor bet to me, to say the least.

it does not matter what "Science" is or does. Many arrogant scientists mock anyone with religious beliefs, and try to force their own religion, that of atheism, on religious people.
Take for example, right on this URL, the people who insist any "intelligent" person has to believe in evolution when there is not one molecule of evidence which shows one species ever changed into another species.
The implication is that those who don't believe in an unproved theory that is full of holes are stupid.
That is sure a good way to bring out confrontation with those of religion.

Because science takes the belief out of religion. Science proves (or disproves) how things work. Which contradicts the whole belief thing religion has going on. I don't know why they can't coexist without strife. If you ask "where did that come from?" enough times science won't have an answer.

Only those weak in their faith feel threatened by science. Science and the order of the universe does a better job of explaining or proving God than most religion-ists care to admit.

Both offer explanations to life's greates mysteries. However, science supports itself with evidence. If science and religion disagree on something, churches would need to find evidence to support their views.

Because they contradict each other in some ways. For example, religion explains the world as being created by God while science explains the world as happening through the Big Bang theory or other theories.

Science is a process of experimentation and observation, in
order to come to logical conclusions. But scientists don't
"believe" thier own test results, if they don't go along with
their preconceived ways of thinking. Therefore, science can logically be classifed as a belief system. Therefore, they feel threatened just as religious people do, when the are confronted with an opposing point of view.

Because religious people are generally so confident in their views they will attack anyone who does not agree. Just like the teaching of evolution. Proven by science, but literal religious interpretation states that it can't possibly be so because we all magically appeared 10,000 years ago according to a book that was written 2,000 years ago.
