I never believed in it until I went through it myself. I don't judge anybody anymore.

The stigma that seems to be associated with any type of mental illness, including depression, is that the person with the disorder is crazy.
I understand the stigma first hand.
Good Luck

i'm a borderline to boot; i are conscious of it sucks to might desire to stress approximately that undesirable stigma. It somewhat should not be that way - mentall ailment is a ailment like various different, it somewhat is basically that for the period of elementary terms people who've experienced it first hand understand this. i'm uncertain that mendacity is the suitable ingredient; a real pal could be information. yet every physique who's basically telling you to "snap out of it" possibly does not qualify. you are the suitable choose of how your loved ones will react to the certainty...yet possibly in case you tell them, they're going to be open to helping you out? Bipolar (and each so often borderline) tend to run in households, in keeping with risk you will discover a connection with a relative which you probably did no longer understand approximately until now? have you ever had any fulfillment with drugs and/or scientific care? i understand BPD is rather obdurate, yet there is DBT scientific care now which has been very efficient for a lot of human beings... somewhat hoping each and every thing works out :) Take care!

I think about those depression commercials with the little blobs that are so effective in making everyone think they're clinically depressed. That said, some people REALLY are and need the drugs, but the majority aren't.
Perhaps some of these people need more God in their life, and less drugs.

You'll be told you are "just lazy"
You are "over thinking" your problems or
"its all in your head"
OF COURSE its all in your head. what a dumb thing to say.
You will be labelled as a pessimist, and ask to "look for the positive"
Your wife will tire of trying to boost your mood and will end up resenting you, then hating you, and finally leaving you.
If you take meds, you are labelled as a head case, looked at as a potential suicide, or feared as a potential criminal.
Depression and other mental illnesses, along with obesity, are perhaps the two LAST conditions that people feel comfortable ridiculing.

I think: "What a shame!" Life should be a happy event with occasional bumps in the road. I think: "I hope they get help soon.". No stigma.

That they've been relying on meds for years, instead of treating and learning how to deal with their problems differently.
