This question really has two answers, depending on how you look at it. If God is real, and is really the one talking and everything, then it is perfectly reasonable to wish, even demand, that people believe in him - acknowledge his very real existence. So no, from this standpoint, God is not a prick for that (though he may be for other reasons, c.f. Issac on the Alter).

On the other hand, it is debatable whether there is enough reason for someone to believe in God as it stands now. It is even more debateable if there is sufficient reason for anyone to believe in a particular god. In this regard, if God truly demands us to believe in him without proper backing up of his existence, then one could consider that a very prickish thing to do.

An example might help. Suppose you live in a neighborhood, and next door is a house. You have never seen anybody go in or out of this house, yet there is no "For Sale" sign, or really any indication that it is inhabited, *or that it is not*. What is your conclusion about the occupant of the house, i.e. does it have one? Well, according to the first point of view above, the inhabitant of the house, if he exists, would be completely justified in being a little pissed that you did not believe he existed. However, you had never seen him go in or out, never talked to him, never seen any real, hard eviddence for his presence. Is he still justified in being mad you doubted his existence? He could say, the lawn is always mown. So what? Someone else could have mown it, even under his direction. The point is that the evidence for his existence and inhabitance of the house is debateable.

The final thing to consider is other people who claim to have met your neighbor. Do you believe them? Who do you believe, if there are conflicting accounts of his charcter, personality, inclinations, past actions? In the face of what may seem to you overwhelming evidence of his non-existence, people claiming to have met him may even seem like crazy people. You see some of the problems of religion.

But to answer your question, it can't feel good to have people think you don't exist. Whether thats an excuse to get angry, however, depends on whether those people have sufficient cause to believe you exist.

If you understood anything at all about God, you would not be so disrespectful to His name.

God created the entire Universe. That alone should give you a DESIRE to believe in Him. The short answer to your question is, first, it has nothing to do with arrogance, or lack thereof. It has to do with whether or not you want to find yourself in Heaven or Hell when you die. Do you know where you will be when you die?

And, by the way, free will has EVERYTHING to do with it...you can choose to ignore, disbelieve, be ignorant or any other such foolish thing....depending on where you are with all that, will most certainly determine where you will spend eternity when you die.

He would be arrogant if there were other gods that could provide us with salvation and denied us the opportunity to worship them. However, there are no other gods than can do this. So, worshiping nonexistent deities a person denies themselves a relationship with his true Creator, Heavenly Father. By commanding us not to follow after the deities of men's imagination, the Father is trying to turn us to him and the true path to salvation. That is not arrogance. That is love.

OK, I'm not religious or anything...not even sure i believe in god, or the validity of the bible...But, respectfully, i don't think that being so very hateful to another person's belief is right. I mean come on...it's like someone saying your mother is a whore...And you worship the ground your mother walks on. You see her as your security, where as someone else my see her as something totally bad. Do you really want people running her down? She probably has helped you thru allot....

..What I'm trying to get at is, the mere thought of an existing god helps dying people thru sooo much!!! It stops people from killing or committing suicide...If you don't believe he's real, then where do you find physical characteristics to start name calling?

..All I'm saying is, we could all benefit from trying to understand where others are coming from, instead of putting down the source of security.

No dummy, He's just right about being the only God. Isa 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
Isa 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

No, he is our Creator, why would he want us to believe in anything else?

And your name, funny, there have been many people who found Jesus in the dumpster. I am glad that I did not sink that low first, but Jesus has saved many souls that were.

Good thing God loves us!

Peace!
