Except for the managers who usually are older, most workers don't have a clue and most the time have a terrible attitude.

Because they only make $6 an hour to give directions, answer some of the dumbest questions ever heard, answer the phone to answer questions like "what time do you close?" or "what were the winning lottery numbers", stock and clean the store, make the hotdogs, load the coffee pots, sweep around the gas pumps when not busy (because no one can get the cigarrete butt into the trash can 5 feet in front of them) The managers dont do alot of these things, just money deposits scheduling and paperwork. Does that answer your question? We arent brain dead (although i no longer work at a convenience store) we are the ones who get the attitude and greif from the manager. so we learn if we dont offer the help, it isnt expected because our bosses already expect way too much of us for 6 bucks an hour.

Well, I was going to say that I worked in a convenience store several years ago and I wasn't brain dead-but yes, I was a manager.
I think terrible customer service exists everywhere. People just aren't caring anymore. Perhaps it's the super-low wages we enjoy the most, I don't know.

Maybe they have bad working conditions and aren't treated very well. Maybe they are thrown into the job without proper training. Maybe they have to deal with nasty people all the time. Maybe they are resentful brats who don't understand that most people have to enter the work force at the bottom of the ladder. Maybe it is some combination of those things.

Well they have to listen to the brain dead public all day. You should stand on the other side sometime. People can really be stupid and rude. Not to mention the nuts that come in and freak you out.

Come on Einstein, how industrious would you be for $5.45 and hour with the chance of getting your *** shot off in a robbery. Anyway Patel or Ali would fire them if they thought on their own.

I think you have it backwards...it's a high turnover job, so that makes me think it's not a very good job...It probably doesn't attract the most ambitious employees.

DUH. Most of us aren't going to work very hard for minimum wage. Perhaps if YOU had a better attitude, it would reflect back to you in THEIR attitudes. Ever think of that, Einstein?
