Yes - it makes no sense, yes it is polytheistic. However, to combat people such as yourself (clear thinkers), the Church invented this lie called the Trinity....see, God is three in one! He is the Father, The Son and the Holy Spurt!!!!
Quite a load of crap they ask you to swallow, eh??? Furthermore, you'll never comprehend this unless you "give yourself over to the Holy Spirit", or , are buttraped by the Spirit of God....

Odd that isn't it?!
In all my years in Christian Churches growing up in Canada I never once read or was told that Jesus is anything other the the Son of God. Never did I hear that Jesus IS God. It is not a teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, the United Church, the Church of England (Anglican), the Mennonite Brethren -
I believe the Jesus IS God idea - is solely American Evangelical - of course I could be wrong and often am.
I am appalled that people feel they have to show such venom in responding to an honest question but I am not surprised as it's been my experience that if the christian doesn't know the answer then the person asking the question is a heathen not worthy of their time and thought process.

I would agree that this does seem to be a inconsistency. It reminds me of a joke my psychology professor told once. There were three men, and they were all insane. They suffered from a god complex. They were at 3 different institutions. Somehow, the doctors from the three institutions learned about the other men who thought they were god. They thought it would be an interesting experiment to put all the men in the same room, and see how they determined who god was.
Eventually, they set things up and get the men into one room. The doctors leave, and agree to come back in one hour to see who god is. After the hour has passed, they meet at the room and go in. They were nervous since they didn't know how the men would react to each other. They were astounded to see the 3 men chatting quietly and acting as if they were best friends.
Turns out they solved the dilemma quite nicely. They decided that one was god. One was the father, and the other was the holy ghost!

christianity makes no sense. They only believe in one god but that one god had a son who was also the original god but was his son simultaneously who god god had killed and tortured to remove everyone sin which they are all born with because god god created a tree and told adam (the 1st person and eve adam's rib made human making them genetically identical making eve a man but she was actually a woman) not to eat from it despite god god knowing they would and so bee doomed until god son god comes back to solve the problem be being killed and tortured despite god god being all power full and so able to solve the problem at the click of his fingers and so as god son god died and then god son god came back and said right I'm off now but I'll be back after a war , famine and an earthquake but whilst I'm gone here have god son god ghost god to look after you bye. WHAT'S THAT ALL ABOUT!!!!! christainty is a load of rubbish just ignore them. And say no to jesus

"If it made any sense, you wouldn't have to accept it on 'faith', would you?" ~ from Nuns On The Run
Christians seem to think that around 2,000 years ago, the god of the Old Testament (Yahweh... Jehovah... Allah... whatever) developed some kind of Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD), in which he manifested a hippie-like personality (Jesus... spent some time on earth... now can be eaten in the form of a cracker), and a Casper the Ghost-like character with pedophilic tendencies (suspected of having impregnated a 12 or 13 year-old virgin... and being venerated for it) to go along with the jealous, petty, capricious, mass-murdering, psychopathic, genocidal personality that already existed.
If this god really exists, then he is clearly nuts. Chances are that he doesn't exist, though... in which case it is his followers who are clearly nuts.

Geez, people. No need to get so fanatical. Whatever happened to "Love thy neighbor?" Is that for members only?
Just because she doesn't follow your crowd doesn't mean you have to banish her to hell. A logical question should be followed by a logical response...not blasphemies and quotes from scriptures. (And in all honesty...when has the Bible ever been stated as "non-fiction".)
One final note: can you all ask God for peace in the Middle-East? I don't want to be drafted. Or if we are going on the Bruce Almighty stance of God and he can't control people's feelings, can you ask him to end global warming. It'd be nice to see some snow in Texas...

God had to redeem man, to buy man back and there was a price to pay for that because man were under another authority. God could not come down to man so he had to come in a way that we could identify and appreciate, so he came as one of us, Jesus. and Jesus or God himself NEVER said for us to have a religion nor did he come to establish it but a kingdom {have dominion over the earth and rule it}through a
relationship with him but only through Jesus

First of all, we need to understand that God is a unite: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three Persons make up One being. There was already a question similar to yours, and this was my answer about it:
Normally, 1+1+1=3; but when we talk about the Trinity, it is 1+1+1=1. Why? When the Bible says that God is one, the hebrew word used for "one" means unity. God is a unite --Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Marriage works the same way; for example, the Bible says: "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh" (Genesis 2:24)
though they're still two persons, right? Marriage is a unity just as the Trinity is
Look what Genesis 1:26 says, "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth". He could not have been talking to angels here, or anyone else, because only God has the power to create. Here, we have a dialogue among the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Also, Genesis 11:7, "Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech". "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me" (Isaiah 6:8). All these verses show that God refers to Himself in plural. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are God.
Another thing, have you noted when the angels worship God, how they say "holy, holy, holy", three times? Look this Bible verse, for example: "And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory" (Isaiah 6:3).

Jesus did not came into existence when He was born on this earth. The Bible says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things wer made; without him nothing was made that has been made". "He was in the word, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him." "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling amongus. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth" (John 1:1-3,10-11,14) Jesus Himself said, "'I tell you the truth,' Jesus answered, 'before Abraham was born, I am!'" (John 8:58). He doesn't say "I was", but "I am", which means eternity. He's been always there, and always will.
Jesus even appears in the Old Testament. Christ was the one who guided the israelites through the desert, "for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. There are a lot or probabilites that the Lord who discussed with Abraham the fate of Sodoma was Jesus (see Genesis 18). David, inspired by the Holy Spirit said, "The Lord says to my Lord: 'Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.'" (Psalm 110:1); and according to Hebrews 1:13, this was a dialogue between God the Father and Jesus. Besides, if you read Hebrews 1, you'll see that God the Father calls Jesus God. In Daniel 7:13-14, Daniel saw a vision; and the Father, under the name of "the Ancient of Days", and Jesus, under the name of "son of man", appear in the vision. Jesus is given "authority, glory and sovereighn power" (verse14).
In Joshua 5:13-15, the "commander of the army of the Lord" appears to Joshua, and he wroships Him (verse 14). If this character would have been a normal angel, Joshua would be asked to not bow down but stand up (see Revelation 19:10). But, here, when Joshua "fell facedown to the ground in reverence", he's not asked not to do it. So it means though he was worshiping this Character, he was not doing anything wrong. We conclude then that the Commander of the army of the Lord is Jesus.
The archangel Michael, who appears thoughout the Scriptures, is Jesus too. Why? Michael is the one who intercedes for God's people in Daniel 12:1. Jesus is our Intercessor. In the book of Jude, Michael resurrects Moses, and only God has the power to resurrect. Jesus is the Resurrection.
There are many "clues" thorughout the Bible that describes us the activity of Jesus before He incarnated in a human being; including prophecies regarding the Messiah, bible verses about the Holy Spirit. One of the reasons God did not talk about Himself being three Persons before could have been because in the days of the Israelites, politheistic culture was very common. Israel could have felt confused with God being three persons. The early christians struggle at the beginning to understand the Trinity. But Jesus talked openly about the Trinity in Matthew 28:19.
The Bible talks for Itself. Many doubts are found there. A Bible verse explains another bible verse, and so on. But, there are things that we don't understand. We need to have faith in what Jesus has revealed in His Word, and later on all our doubts will be resolved.
