Unfortunately, no flights met your search criteria for the airports you selected.
Possible Causes:

This could be a peak travel time for your destination.
Your search may have been restricted by airline, stops, fare class, or fare type.
What you can do:

Read more about limited flight schedules.
Try another search with surrounding airports.
Try a +/- 1 to 3 days or a flexible date search.
Include all airlines and/or stops in your search.

No. You would have to transfer somewhere. The cheapest would probably be through an NYC airport but that would add HOURS on to your journey.

You would be better going through Los Angeles (LAX) or Vegas (LAS) and getting a connection, see which is the cheapest.

Remember that you dont have to use the same airline for the conecting flight, but if you don't you will need to re-check your luggage.

BHX is only a small airport too so better heading to Heathrow or Gatwick.

Reno Tahoe airport is more of a domestic airport. Most of the flights are from North America, U.S., Canadian and some Mexican flights.

This is a list of all airlines that operate at Reno Tahoe airport:

It is also the same case for Birmingham airport. It too is more of a domestic / regional airport. Your not going to get a direct flight between these airports, as neither are major airline hubs.

I did a search for you on Expedia.co.uk, and I found several flights for you from Birmingham to Reno, but ofcourse they all have connections (2 or more for most of them) in major hub cities and are with several airlines:

Birmingham > connection > 2nd connection > Reno flights:

The cheapest flight on the link I provided above was on Air France with a connection in Paris, then Atlanta (US), and then arrival in Reno. That flight goes for £725.40 per person.

Another option would be London to Las Vegas, which would only have 1 connection but then you would need to drive to Reno (far from Las Vegas) or take an express flight from Las Vegas to Reno, but that's a lot of hassel so I would just do the 2+ stops from Birmingham to Reno.

To Fly from London Heathrow or Gatwick, with just one connection in the U.S:
Cheapest flight was on Northwest Airlines, from London Gatwick with a connection in Detroit then arrival in Las Vegas. That goes for £426.60 per person. There are also several other airlines to choose from which you can see by clicking on the link below.
Once in Las Vegas you would need to get to the Reno and Lake Tahoe area. Best option is to get a Southwest Airlines flight (our version of EasyJet or Ryan Air) from Las Vegas to Reno. Those flights would be on average $130 (USD)

London > connection > Las Vegas flights:
http://www.expedia.co.uk/pub/agent.dll?qscr=fexp&flag=q&city1=London&citd1=Las+Vegas&date1=9/9/2006&time1=362&date2=16/9/2006&time2=362&cAdu=1&cSen=&cChi=&cInf=&infs=1&tktt=&trpt=2&ecrc=&eccn=&qryt=1&load=1&rfrr=-13018&eapid=0-3

Las Vegas > Reno flights on Southwest:

Anyways, I hope this helps and gives you an idea on your options for flights to Reno from Birmingham. Good luck, enjoy your trip!
