I know that clarity enhanced diamonds are weaker than regular diamonds. But how much weaker? I have a desk job and I don't do a lot of manual labor. I am looking at a 1.75 ct. enhanced round stone that would be in a 10kt. white gold cathedral setting with a tulip basket. What do you think? Will it last me a lifetime?

Here's some information that may help you.

From what I can see, you can buy one with a lifetime guarantee. I wouldn't think that anything that you could possibly do would damage the stone. The things listed that COULD damage it, would be extremely harmful to you before it hurt the stone (like the acid or boiling water or laser).

All diamonds are enchaned. They are run through a laser to heat up and remove all the impurity's and yellowness. They have the same exact hardness as a untouched diamond. To get an untouched diamond- you would buy what's called a blue star (natural white diamond) or a fancy diamond. But all diamond that follow the color charts and clarity test- have been enhanced.
You would have to go to a very fancy store and it would be $$$$$.

If your talking about a created diamond which they are trying to make illegal and are hard to get... they take coal and laser it to create diamond. They are .1 under the "real" diamond strenght. I have a pair of 3 carat earrings that are created from Thailand and you can't tell the difference without that little lazer pointer thing the jewelry store uses. I have notice no difference in the hardness for chipping. You can chip any diamond if you try hard enough!! But my earrings are perfect and I wear and clean them constantly.

Diamonds are disgusting. Children are maimed with machetes and innocent people killed for the diamond industry. Even if you manage to buy a non-conflict diamond, the mining process is absolutely terrible for the environment. Research conflict diamonds and blood diamonds before you buy.

If it's real love you wouldn't need a diamond.
