Answer to Mortisia, please check from a map if Bagcilar is a touristic area or a central area in Istanbul. Please guys, most of the Turkish people really do laugh to those kind of opinions. My personal opinion is that US is more dangerous than Turkey. Because they have many enemies. We have never had such a thing like twin towers bombing in Turkey. Don not be ignorant and try to stop focusing to the bad news about Turkey. If Turkey is that much dangerios why every year 20 million touristics coming and you do not see anything on the news about 20 million touristis killed in Turkey. You do have the same things in your countries too.
P.S. Turkish state is not in a war with kurds. We are only against terrorists and trying to protect ourselves as you do.

Im off to Marmaris this saturday. Three small bombs, three people dead. Its not a small thing and it will probobly put a sour taste on the atmosphere over there for a few weeks. However, I live in London full time and get the tube every day. In my head there is no less of a threat here, we just get on with it coz we have to.
The resilience of the average westerner is rising everyday.

I will go to Marmaris, although feel my holiday will not be as enjoyable as it would have been due to the sense of fresh fear in the air. Bombings in Turkey from these guys are a annual occurance of late which hasnt faltered the tourist trade. This one is just bigger news because it is a British resort, Britains died and there is a lull in other war linked news.

My verdict, go and stay away from public transport, pay for taxis. Once you get there try not to think about it and enjoy

It has always been safe to travel to Turkey. Come on, Turkey is not a chaotic Mid-Eastern country, it is an USA, EU and NATO ally. Additionally each year over 20 milions of tourists (most of which are from Europe and USA) visit there. Leave your bias behind and ask them.

Bombings happen in London and NY as well.

U know what, doesnt matter coz my ex wife was American and it was pretty safe even to live in Turkey for two years, then do the math. And its much safer than here in Detroit. So, no worries, go for it u will like it. doesnt matter if u r black or white, american or russian, as long as u r not into political demonstrations to aim at provocation, there is nothing to get scared of. Two weeks ago i came back here from Turkey, and the weather and natural beauty were awesome. Go for it dude without any hesitation u will definitely like it and also surprised at seeing ppl friendly and helping...There was and is no bombing there, trust me...

Travel is safe .. No worries at that
but the weather is extremely hot these days so I'd suggest you to arrange your travels to take place during the night as much as possible

NO! The turkish state is at war with opressed Kurdish. There are plenty terrorist attacks on famous tourist destinationa (Minor Asian shores, etc.). Check the latest news headlines for yesterday's bombing attacks (August 28).
