In prison is where you find a concentration of people who are truly frightening. Most of us will live our lives and meet lots of unpleasant people along the way but, thankfully, we wont meet the monsters. Prisoners do, and on equal terms. That's as low as you go. Think of the sickest, most disgusting, obnoxious, arrogant, selfish, greedy and vicious person you have ever encountered. Imagine they're even worse than that and imagine having to live in a whole community of people just like them. You can't rise above it. You can't ignore it. They wont let you and it's relentless. There's nowhere to hide in a prison. It shouldn't be called 'Prison', it should be called 'Torment'.

Doing time in a tough prison, is just that, hard time. As an inmate you must maintain your tough persona and that's by joining a prison gang. You have to grow eyes behind your head because there will always be someone trying to knock you down or kill you and make you their sexual object.

As an inmate you have little control for your well being. You may be a straight up thug, just doing your time, but when a riot breaks out you are in the middle of it and risk getting shanked or shot, or both. Doing time, is a waste of time.

You can lose your life ,your dignity and your sense of self,to animals that prey on young men.Its either cooperate or die .The guards turn a blind eye to rape and extortion yes there are many reason young men fear going back to prison

They're not afraid, not unless it's they're first time. It's a proven fact that the only ones that get taking advantage of are the first-timer, and young white offenders. Other then that it's not bad on them at all. They get to lay up in a bunk all day, get three free meals, and get to play like little kids. It's a big DAYCARE FOR GROWN MEN.

been there, done that, got the track suit! (seriously)

one guy (cellmate) tried to make me his *****, i simply told the guy that he'd either have to kill be or get atleast 5 buddys to resrain me, got into a fight, guards broke it up and that is how you earn respect, by standing your grounds and making it clear. me and him actually got along after a while (appologies and all).
i'd rather be dead than any1's ***** that simple, don't believe me? give it a shot!

the worst part was being locked up 23 and 1/2 hours a day in a cell no bigger than a garden shed with a lonely guy twice your size. you learn a whole new meaning to the word patient. lights where on 20 hours a day. i had a book to read and that was all.

(went in for 6 months, assault causing bodily harm. broke 1 guys jaw [had to be wired shut with steel plate on lower jaw] and crushed anothers sternum in a fight because the first guy hit my sister, he's definatly lucky i didn't kill him)

thats was a year ago.

p.s. i'm not scared to go back, but will definatly do my best to avoid it.

There's no longer any reason to be afraid of Prison, largely because they're not taking any more bookings.
To be terrified and affraid you would require a Brain,
for persistant offenders this appears not be a problem
anymore.

They don't. A lot of criminals like it. They get 3 meals a day, they get to go to the gym, they get telly, drugs sneaked in for them, and occasionally have day release so they can see their friends and family. I know of people that actually commit crime once they've been released so they can go back inside. It's far to easy in prison these days.

you take someone doing a two year sentance and send them to prison with some one whos doing 30, and is probably never going to see daylight again, the guy doing 30 years doesn't care if they add another 10 years onto his sentance for fighting raping or killing his cellmate, does this give you an idea of what goes on in there and why they're afraid to go back?

disregard the nasty. we dont want to go back because spending 23 hours a day, in a cell, which measures 11 feet (3m) by 5'10" (1.8meters) with two other guys, who dont wash and pee into a bucket, is not my idea of fun.

they take away ones liberty... and nothing is worth that. beleive me, ive been there..no one made me their biatch, no one hassled me at all... but its an awful place to be, full of criminals, which is fine...but it also houses paedophiles, rapists and other scum, whom i have no time for whatsoever.

if more young people got banged up, believe me, crime would drop... its probably the only deterrent left that might have a chance of working...

Sounds as though you feel quite the opposite; for some reason.
