I have severe eczema and it doesn't itch at all. It causes redness that sometimes looks black and blue. When it flares up my hand starts to crack and bleed . It's especially worse on my fingers because when I bend them the wounds bleed again. Then it burns really bad and I have to avoid soap and water as much as possible. My doctor gave me a prescription but it doesn't help when it flares up. So I got some advice from someone on Yahoo answers to try Vitamin E oil. I bought some at a natural foods store and put it on at night then put gloves over it . I helped me so much. I haven't had a flare up in over 2 months!

Just a thought - are you sure this is the same thing as the eczema? Moisturising is great for dry skin, but can make other problems worse. I had a similar itching leg problem, which would wake me in the middle of the night, feeling as though I had fire ants all over my legs. It went on for half a year and has only just cleared up over the last month. The doctor gave me moisturisers and steroids, neither of which worked. The only thing that stopped it for me is antihistamine, which I take twice weekly now (I took them more regularly at first). Some antihistamines also help you sleep, which is great if the itching is waking you, as it did with me. I had no obvious allergy (they tested me) but antihistamines still work for the legs. A lot of this sort of problem has to do with how your capillaries are behaving, so I'm guessing antihistamines calm them in some way, when rubbing moisturiser in only aggravates (in these cases). Some of them can make you sleep through the alarm in the morning, though, particularly Phenergen (prescription only). Surrounded by so much good advice on what to do if it definitely is eczema, I hope this might have helped in the event that it's not. Good luck with it:)

Yup...I have eczema that both itches & doesn't. It's normal. Are the spots round & blotchy looking? I have a couple like that on my legs right now. As far as I know, they just need to fade on their own. I would continue using whatever cream your doc recommended even if it doesn't appear to be working.

You can also use Dr Wheatgrass Recovery Cream or Spray. It's cream/spray derived from organically grown wheatgrass. Dr. Reynolds invented the product and has been successfully treating this patients since 1995 with these products. As far as allergic reactions go, this product is made from wheatgrass, the same thing that bread is made of. It's also gluten free. I believe it's approved for people of all ages (from infants to adults) because it's a natural product. You can check out his website for more information and testimonials. You can even ask Dr. Reynolds any questions you may have considering your symptoms.

From past experience, it seems that doctors (correctly or incorrectly) seem to use the term "eczema" to refer to almost any skin rash. It doesn't have to itch. I can't give you any advice on how to clear up your "eczema" but I did want to clear up the terminology.

Have you also had a recurring chest cold? Did you know that eczema is directly related to being allergic to Milk Protein?

If it is eczema, it might be yeast (Candida) related. I am trying to get clean of a systemic candida syndrome.

You may want to read about yeast at www.hufa.org, for some basic information.
