I have recently finished my amoxicillin, which was suppose to take care of my Strep throat. The swelling has gone down a lot. The last couple of days of my last pills, I started to eat whole good (pizza). I think it scratched my throat or irratated it. I was wondering if my throat is still aching because of the whole food i was eating or because I need more pills to completely take care of the virus. My last question is, Is there a shot for strep throat instead of the pill?.. If so, please give the name of the shot or other details that you may give... Please give accurate feed back...Thank you

I've had strep really bad before, and after a month the doctor had to give me a penicillin shot and some other mega pills b/c the amoxicillin wasn't doing the trick. I can't remember what the pills were called, but they were huge and yellow, and tasted like metal. They were gross, but they worked with the shot and cleared the strep up in about a week.
I hope you get to feeling better soon!! Strep is the worst.

strep throat is caused by a bacteria, not a virus, just so you know. Amoxicillin is part of the penicillin family and yes, you can get a wopping dose of penicillin in your butt and not take the pills, but most people take the pills. Your strep can be a little resistant to amox because some people don't take all of the antibiotics, thus the bacteria doesnt' always die, and the bacteria learns to protect itself against the amox and thus becomes resistant to it. Finish your course and if you still feel sick, go back to the doc. he/she may give you another course. They also may have you beat it up with your immune system. Which by the way, if you are still staying out till all hours of the night and not getting enough sleep, your immune system is taking a beating and your strep can come right back...
ps. penicillin in the butt hurts, thats why they use pills,

You'll need to see a doctor. Any shot you could get would be an antibiotic, which you need a doctor's prescription for.

I don't recommend it ... but I wanna see what a shot of Vodka would do for your streptococcus.

Yes there is it's Penicillin. It goes in your butt and hurts like a SOB.
