Sixty-seven percent of computer programmers held a college or higher degree in 2004; nearly half held a bachelor’s degree, and about 1 in 5 held a graduate degree.
Employment is expected to grow much more "SLOW"ly than that for OTHER computer specialists because all the jobs are going to INDIA.
Prospects likely will be best for college graduates with knowledge of OTHER programming languages and tools; like UNIX, Perl, Linux, those with less formal education or its equivalent in work experience are apt to face strong competition for programming jobs.

Hi!
I don't know exactly if you mean Visual Studio 2005 or the .Net Framework 2.0. I have been both for some time now, and it seems to me that it changes a lot from VS Net2003. Some of the new features are:
-->Brand new controls that allows dynamic databinding, authentification,etc.
-> The new System.Collection.Generics library
-->Support for some of the new features of framework 2.0 like Authentification, Configuration management,
--> ASP .net new features like master page and web parts.
-> Increibly usefull and enhanced intellisense (Improved from 2003) that offers Visual Studio
Therefore, to me, migrate to Microsoft .Net framework seems very reasonable if that's what you are planning to do
