For home defense your best bet is a shotgun, if you miss the intruder you dont have to worry about the shot going thru walls and killing neighbors, a handgun can and will go thru walls of a home. The racking action of a pump shotgun speaks 82 languages, and makes a statement not soon forgotten.

Both are good choices. The Model 35 if you are going to target shoot as well. The Model 22 if it is strictly for home/personal defense. It is plenty accurate.

I like the Model 20 myself, but you didn't ask about any other calibers, so go with the Model 22. I think it will serve you better on the long run. Night sights would be a plus for low-light shooting. Be sure to keep your Glock out of unauthorized hands--children. And ask your dealer about how to store it, as the Glock is safe-action and the firing sequence is initiated merely by squeezing the trigger. I would suggest keeping it in a holster that covers the trigger/trigger-guard area, but the dealer may have a better suggestion.

I assume you will want to do more with the gun that just keep it at home in a drawer, such as take it out to shoot recreationally. True, for home defense you can't beat a pump shotgun, but it seems as if you want to make a decision on two distinct model of one manufacture. The G22 has a longer sight radius and is more accurate. It is larger, but is more comfortable to shoot, if you are not going to carry it concealed. The G35 is more concealable and smaller in dimension. Thus being, the recoil will be more felt with the smaller grip area and not as controllable at times. I would go with the G22 just because it will serve you better in the accuracy and ease of shooting dept. I carry a 22 on duty and have shot the BabyGlocks some. The 22 is a beast to conceal, but that probably isn't a concern for you judging by your question. Hope this helps your decision.

I agree that the sound of a racking shot gun does speak volumes but I'd still go with a pistol. I own two, a cobra .380 that I keep in the sock drawer and a Taurus millennium pro 9mm that I carry all the time. When I was looking for a good home defense gun I almost got a tactical shot gun but think of this. You and your spouse are sitting in the living room and someone kicks your front door in and grabs your (in my case) wife. A scatter gun wouldn't be the best option there. Also they make defensive rounds that don't over penetrate for pistols. Just depends on your situation, budget, personal choice.

I would get a 9mm because anything bigger you could cause some serious damage to your house if/when you miss. A 9mm with glazer rounds is very lethal. Also in a panic state, you'll need more rounds to hit the perp in the dark. You might want to consider getting a gun with a utility mount for a light. Some good options are the XD9, Sig 229, HK USP Compact, and the Walther P99.

For home defense, ditch the gun, and get a shotgun. At home you don't want to aim at an intruder, are you kidding me ! You want to squeeze and spray !! Spray as wide and as much as you can without worrying about missing the thief. Get a shotgun.
I own a Glock 27, .40 cal. and just love it. With the dual spring system, is a very smooth gun. It has more stopping power then the 9mm.

Depends on your priorities. 35 is gonna get you a little more velocity, little more sight radius, and a little less felt recoil. Result? Not nessisarily "more accurate" but "easier to shoot more accurately." It's bigger, and when you say it's for personal protection, maybe you dont want something so huge. Also the 22 is cheaper, and there are tons of used ones out there for less yet. I'd say 35, but it's easy for me, I'm not paying for it.

For home defense i would go with a 44 mag not real accurate far away but if some one is in your house you don't really need something for 100 yards or better.
