I'm going there from Boston for Thanksgiving but don't know much about Cali. Flights are pretty expensive so I'm hoping Jetblue will be cheaper. It says the cities in Cali that it stops in are:
Burbank
Oakland
Ontario
Long Beach
Sacremento
San Diego
San Jose

Both Long Beach and Burbank are in LA County. It would depend on which part of LA you are going to. Burbank covers North LA County and the Valley, while Long Beach covers South LA County and the South Bay.

LGB - Long Beach, or Ontario, or Burbank
Oakland - is near the Bay Area
Sacremento - is near the Bay Area
San Diego - Way south
San Jose - just south of the Bay Area

LGB or BUR are the bast bets. But it depends on where you are ultimately headed. They are both about 15 miles from LAX, but in opposite directions so either of them would work depending on which way you need to go from LAX.
