Yes dogs can do that. Feral cats can be very aggressive too.

A dog can rip a person to sheds. They don't always have to be provoked by anything to attack. It depends on the dog and the dog's background.
We have tried in the past to adopt dogs from rescue groups or the humane society. Last Fri. I had to put the second dog to sleep.
When you are not aware of a dog's background or what conditions it came from, don't get the dog.........Look at what problems humans have when they have been mentally and physically abused by another. They have problems. Now, how bad do you think that would be if it were a dog? At least a human can understand and perhaps get help to have a decent life.

I will never again put a person's life in danger because of a dog that has been poorly treated. They cannot be trusted and it is not their fault. But there is nothing we can do to change it either.

I bought a purebred this time. It was amazing. He does things his family of sibs did. He has mannerisms that only his breed has. I don't have to afraid if someone walks up to him outside and tries to pet him. If he gets off his leash, he isn't going to run and attack a child and pull the child's arm off and eat it..........

Say whatever you want. I want to enjoy my dog and not live in fear of what he might do if I have a house full of company or a kid takes a bone out of his mouth......No thanks!!!

Yes, they can, especially in small children.

These pcitures are probably the best argument for having any dog obedience trained and under constant supervision when small children are around.

My dogs are high-level obedience trained and patient to the point of incredible: they've let small children use them for ponies, stepstools, and comfy pillows. But I still supervise them very carefully at all times when they are around children.

Edit: to the person who had bad luck with dogs from the Pound, let me say that one of my most patient and loving dogs was a Husky-Shepherd mix that we adopted from the Humane Society.

Before I could stop the child, my friend's grandson literally used the sleeping Max's ribs as a springboard from the floor to the couch, and the child was wearing cowboy boots. Max's only response was an "OOOFF!" and he went back to sleep.

There are some wonderful dogs like Max at the Pound. It just depends on the individual dog and the previous owners, I think.

Actually, domesticated dogs and wolves are the same species. Some can have quite a wild side and yes, they can inflict some pretty brutal damage. Most domesticated dogs won't do anything like this unless highly provoked, but there are always the ones who were abused/neglected enough to do this for no reason or if barely provoked.

Dogs can attack violently if they are tempted to. if you do get attacked by a dog and are injured in the event, its usually your fault because you must have done something to really tick it off. but yes they can rip body parts off. My advice don't mess with a dog that looks like it will hurt you.

it depends on the breed and on their owners if the are raised to be violent they will be. also if its in their natural they can and might (pitbulls are an example)
all dogs have sharp enough teeth to do damage enough to rip an ear off or take a chuck out if they wanted.

(we have 7 dogs big and small)

Yes they can and easily. I had a rather large dog that was abused before I adopted him. He was easily frightened and would lash out with aggression. He learned to trust me unfortunately no one else. One day he lost it and attacked a family member severing her thumb and broke both of her arms by completely crushing the bones.

Yes, they can. Why the question? Dogs can attack so violently that they can kill someone.

They can. Keep in mind dogs have a relative called the wolf and wolves gnaw through bones... which actually dogs can do too, just in a more domesticated type of way.

Of course they can. It's a slim chance that that will happen (as dogs are not normally viscious creatures) but hey if they were abused or trained to be that way, then most definentely!!
