Vw's usually have icons to tell what they are for, you have the left and right turn signal, the battery icon lights if your alternator is not charging, the glow plug icon lights to show when the glow plugs are on, and when it goes off, you can start your engine. There is a icon of an engine with a bar across it, it is the check engine light, there is a icon that is red with a with a circle with a drop in the middle, that is the oil pressure light, comes on when the oil pressure is low. the is a icon of a person in a seat, that is the seat belt light, There is a bulb icon that is blue, that lets you know you have your headlights on high beam. I can understand the confusion, I have several older vw's, which just had led's that light up to tell you whats happening. It would be better to switch to gauges, so you know exactly what's happening. They don't call them idiot lights for nothing.
