Okay, I'm on a holiday kick today. Personally, I say Merry Christmas because most people in America celebrate this holiday, but if I know someone celebrates another holiday, I will wish them a Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Ramadan, Happy Hannukka, etc.

What's wrong with saying Merry Christmas???

Nothing is wrong with Merry Christmas. I however, say Happy Holidays from about a week before Thanksgiving until about a week after New Years. I do this for a few reasons.

1. I do not wish to insult anyone.
2. I am just to lazy to remember which holiday i am supposed to wish someone.

I say Merry Christmas. If it offends, sorry. This is America. I can say what I want. I'm just trying to be nice to people!!!! I will tell them Happy Kwanzaa or such if they are of a different religion or celebrate Christmas differently. But Christmas is Christmas, no matter what. There all celebrated in December and have basically the same meaning!!!!

There's nothing wrong with saying Merry Christmas. It is just being on the safe side to say Happy Holidays since you often don't know what holiday someone celebrates or if they celebrate more than one.

BTW People are not trying to take Christ out of Christmas by saying Happy Holidays - the government is promoting it since the gov. should have nothing to do with religion and it is more acceptable in public venues since there are so many holidays going on at the same time. It is simply looking beyond Christmas.

I generally say Happy Holidays as it covers them all including New Year's.

I say Happy Holidays so it covers all of 'em. If someone wishes me a Merry Christmas, I just take it to mean holiday. It doesn't bother me either way. Same as when the guys at the mission say "God Bless You" or "Jesus Loves You" when I walk by. It's not my god or belief system, but hey, I'll take as many blessings and well wishes as I can get. *smile*

With that said, there are some people who may feel offended by a Merry Christmas, if that's not their religion. They also may see you as the type of person who's assuming something about them, which isn't positive. Just food for thought.

Happy Monday to ya. :)

If I know someone celebrates Christmas, I wish them a "Merry Christmas". If I don't know for sure, I simply say "Happy Holidays" to be courteous in case they celebrate something else or nothing at all.

I used to say Merry Christmas. Then advertisement for this holiday began BEFORE Halloween. Never again. I now say Happy make money off the supposed son of god day. It goes over well.
