My husband used to be upset and thought that our dog likes me more than him. I tried to tell him that it's all about the food and who meets her needs. (walking, feeding, letting her out). I am not saying now go and feed your dog every time you sister is around. But notice the attention your sister gives your dog when she is there. Most dogs are very social creatures. They just love all attention no matter who it comes from. You may mistake your dog for liking your sister more because he is so excited around her. Well that could be the sight of someone new coupled with another dog around. My dog gets the same way. When there are new people around she would rather get attention from them. But when it's just my husband and me she would rather be with me. The bonding I did with my dog included walking, wrestling, throwing a toy etc. Also, dogs like it when you talk to them in a higher voice. I talk to mine all the time and even though she doesn't really understand what I am saying she looks like she does.

Some dogs prefer females to males or vice versa, or may prefer one individual over another. It could go back his/her earliest puppy interactions with humans. You may never be able get the dog to prefer you to your sister. It's good to do all the bonding things that others suggest - play with, train, spend time with, feed, groom, etc. but be prepared to accept the fact that the dog may still choose her over you.
NOTE: Do NOT treat a dog as a person unless you want behavior problems. Dogs are dogs, and to treat them as people just confuses them. You need to think like a dog. I love dogs and all animals. I'm not a mean person, nor would I ever be cruel to any animal. But don't think that spoiling a dog is doing him a favor - anymore than spoiling a child would. Remember that he's a dog. He'll be happiest when you exercise the Alpha Dog control and reward him for appropriate behavior.

If your dog is a little one Try this. When your dog falls asleep on the floor or anywhere pick it up and sit on the couch and put it on your lap and pet it back to sleep. soon your dog will truly be your dog. If it is a large dog try when it is sleeping to cuddle on the floor with it and pet it that way. Good luck.

i imagine you may have in basic terms practically as good a bond with a puppy dogs. the common of p.c.. pastime of strolling and exercising person-friendly mutually creates a good bond. My dogs follows be everywhere around the domicile, and if i bypass out he lies by using the front door and waits for me to go back lower back, no matter if something else of the kin are in the domicile. he's stunning, if i'm unhappy he snuggles as a lot as me and is amazingly quiet, if i favor to play he's exciting and bouncy! for sure there is in basic terms practically as good a bond, it comes right down to the education and attempt and time you install on the initiating. xx

Start engaging his mind. Teach him tricks (and reward him). Take him for walks and make him heal.
Dogs are not humans. Don't treat them like humans. They will respect and "bond" with you if they feel you are clearly in control and challenge them to excel.

Well this is a hard one. Is the dog a puppy or an adult?boy or girl? it all depends. The basic things are rewarding them when they do something right, petting them and don't let them do bad stuff. If they pee on the floor show them that they have to pee in the place you set up. Good Luck!

Spending time with him is the best thing to do. Like the other answers, treat him like you would a person. Attention is a winner. Take him for walks and if he's good, give him a treat.

Best thing you can do is give him tons of attention, play ball with him, take him on walks, go to the park with him, teach him new tricks.
And of course dogs LOVE Peanut Butter, but I promise you that alone will not when his affection. Maybe a tiny bit of it. ; )
***ATTENTION is your key her though. Treat him like you would one of your best friends and do things with him, I am sure he will come around.

Spend more time with him. Build a relationship. Think of him as a person and think about he would want to be treated.
