God could see that Adam couldn't even figure out his way around Eden and he wouldn't ask for help so God made Eve. At least she could read a map to the tree of knowledge.

In the Beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth. Please take note of the period after Earth. Its important.
This is the first verse in the Book of Genesis. A lot happened and a whole lot of years past before we get to verse two.
There was a overthrow by Satan who's name then was Lucifer when he attempted to sit down on the throne of God to claim himself God. Its amazing that he will again try to do the very thing again but this time here on Earth. It did'nt work in Heaven, what makes him think it will work here?
Satan convinced 1/3 of the souls in Heaven to follow him in this overthrow. Another 1/3 of the souls did nothing but stand there and watch. Not making a desision one way or the other. The remaining 1/3 stood strong and fought along with the angels of God to twart the overthrow and win avictory.
God had to pass judgement on Satan, Satan's angels, and the 2/3 of the souls that either did nothing or alinge themselves with Lucifer.
God did pass judgement. He judged Lucifer to death and his angels with him. He bound the fallen angels and locked them up till the time of the final judgemant.
Then starts the second verse, and the recreation of the Earth.
I'll skik to the sixth day of creation where God creates man and woman and give them dominion over the animals and bird and the fish along with everything the creepeth on the Earth.
God rest on the seventh day.
Then on the eighth day God creates ha Adam. The Man. This is where Jesus the Christ decended from. So we need a womb man and God causes ha Adam to sleep, removes some DNA and creates Eve from the bone of ha Adam.
Long answer but you asked for the reason. Do hope this will help you in your walk withthe Lord.><>

Eve was more than a helper, she was a companion and a way to populate the earth.

Adam was whining about having to give birth to all the first inhabitants of the planet. He needed the strength of a woman.
Whiner.

Because Adam and Eve together are a better representation of the "image of God." Without Eve, Adam was not complete.
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." (Genesis 1:27, NIV)
