I had his pictures taken at JC Penny's when he was born, 6 months, 1 year and next week he'll be 18 months. Should I get the 18 month pictures taken or wait for one year? I'm not sure what "most" people do. I think he's still young enough that he's changing so much it would be worth it. But at the same time he's our first so we have a million pictures of him already!

Go ahead and do it. You're right, he's young enough that a lot happens in 6 months. Get them again for his second birthday, and then birthday pictures each year.
Just an FYI - make sure to keep them organized with date and age. I didn't start scrap booking until he was in high school, and so many of those pictures, including candids start to all look alike. Second grade - third grade???
Keep them organized, even if you don't have time to scrap them now. It'll save headaches in the future.

Well with my first child I had his pictures taken a lot as well. I think it's just the excitement of your first child.

I would have your little ones picture taken again. He is changing all the time and it's fun to look back on how a few months can make a difference.

I wish I had time to get my second child's picture done. I was only able to do it once when he was about 4 months, he is now a year old.

I took pictures of my first daughter about every three months because she was changing so much. After a year I slowed down to every six months.

If you are worried about the price of taking pictures all the time, you could try taking them yourself. I find a nice spot in my yard and take pictures in the spring or summer and in the winter I use the Christmas tree as a backdrop.
You can print the pictures yourself if you are equipped with a digital camera and photo printer, but if not, there are websites or stores like Wal-Mart that will print whatever size you want.

I had my son's pictures taken at 3, 6, and 9 months, 1 year, 18 months, 2 years, and now 3 years. From here on out it will only be for his birthday....and I do get them done at Christmas.

Yes, definitely get them done. I take my daughter to JC Penney's about 3-4 times a year for portraits. There are differences between 18 and 24 months, you'll see. Go ahead and capture that baby-look, before you know it he'll be a big boy. :)

I say Go for It!! If you can afford it, then do it. You will love to look back at your child's pictures for every 6 months. Once they are about 2 or 3, then switch to every year! Right now, they are still going through a lot of changes.

OMG! Take as many as you can! I took my son every month until he turned 1 and then I tried to take him in his halloween costume after that and he refused to sit and take pictures......He is now 2 and refuses to sit for them to take his picture, he cries.......I now have a 2 month old daughter and I have taken her like 3 times already and I am going to take her again next week.I plan on doing the same with her......every month until she turns 1 and then every year after that.......Time flies by and you can never have too many pictures! I am just hoping now my son will take a picture with his sister!
