Oil.
Eradicating oil would force nations to develop renewable energy methods, it would force us to develop eco-friendly materials (unlike the current plastics and rubbers which never deteriorate), it would remove a major power-struggle issue, gas powered vehicles would become a thing of the past, resulting in cleaner air and water. In general, getting rid of oil would lead to a healthier, cleaner, slightly more peaceful planet.
