They are Abraham and Sarah before God gave them new names. "No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations." (Genesis 17:5, NIV) "As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her." (Genesis 17:15-16, NIV)
Abram means "exalted father." Abraham means "father of a great number." Sarai means "my princess." Sarah means "princess."
The change could be simply to mark the occasion or could be the shifting from the more personal (my father, my princess) to the more general or universal (the father of many, the princess of many).
