The gifts that I loved the most from my parents were the ones that I wasn't quite expecting. My mom would find some really neat or unique set of toys at the store and get them for me or my brother. When my brother was younger she got him a ton of monster's in my pocket (they were going out of style then and were sold in mass quantities.) He's 21 and STILL loves the ugly critters. I would say base the gifts on age too. A young child will love any type of toy, preteen would like more "grown up" things but that are also still youthful, a teenager ... Good luck on them, I suggest getting a list of their desires and picking and choosing from there.

All depends on which child? Basically the best gift for either of them would be simply time all alone just me and that child, as all of my children seem to think I favor the others more, They all seem to fight amongst themselves over who gets to go with mom, So I try as hard as I can to always keep it fair and just take them all, so we never really get to spend quality alone time. So my gift would be to call in that day and take that child for the whole day starting with going out to breakfast, then shopping for that perfect gift, maybe lunch in the park and an afternoon matinee. For dinner we would go somewhere expensive and far away ( we usually eat cheap buffet as we have 4 kids) The entire day up to that child to decide what they want to do.

Most children enjoy the happiness of being and enjoying with both their parents. While you can give your child any material gift that you can afford, nothing beats the idea of going out with him/her and having a great evening at a circus/movie and a dinner at a cosy family restaurant. And all the time shower him with love.

Time with a parent. Otherwise, most gifts will be forgotten a couple of weeks AFTER the birthday.

the most expensive gift on earth is time. if u give ur time for someone it means that u have given them a part of ur life. and if it is ur child then spend one whole day solely for them and u can never take this gift back and even ur child can't give it back to you even if u wish to.
