When middle aged women used to come into my job, they were so bitter and angry and seemed like they weren't happy unless they made me mad. I would be very nice and I always smile and I'm never rude, but middle aged women are just downright unhappy. Why is this? I hope I never get like them.

Hey, mishy or whatever your name is.. I'm not irritating. Sometimes I would simply say, "hello. How are you?" and they'd roll their eyes at me and not respond. One lady yelled at her husband for flirting because he said to me, "Hi sweetie. How are you." He was just being friendly. Most of the women are mean and bitter. Not all!!! most!

RuneAmok, you are my case in point. You don't fall in the category of "not all" because you ARE one of them. This observation came from having a job at 16 until 24 years old and coming into contact w/older women EVERY SINGLE DAY---- VERY MANY every day!

It could be hormonal. (Maybe early menopause that's screwing with their hormones.) It could also be that they're barren and bitter about that. I have a coworker who was unable to conceive, and she walks around constantly pissed off about that. (They stopped trying nearly 5 years ago, and she's still getting upset over little things...even things that aren't child related!) Or it could be that these women are just nasty, mean people.

What? You must be living in a very strange, sad part of the world. Most middle-aged women I know are bright, vibrant, wonderful people. They've gotten past the immaturity of youth and are beginning to discover life on their own terms. Don't judge all middle-aged people by the pathetic specimens you seem to have met. I count many middle-aged and senior women as my friends, and they're almost always far happier and wiser than their younger counterparts.

Women have really dug themselves a poop-hole. They use to have it great! When 40-year-old women come for a job, they ask for so much less than a man! It's great! They also can't stay at home because they have been too busy 'making a career' that they missed out on all the great things they should have been doing in their 20s and 30s.
It's sad actually.

I'm 51 and have never been bitter. I've got a great life and I am very grateful for it. I think people can be bitter at any age.

I noticed this also.
I had a 40 yo. girl friend call me names, and run me over with her
mustang.
She was a real pain in the neck.
I in her case she had been jerked around by many guys in the past
and did'nt give me a chance to show I loved her.
