the only way you will ever see abs looking like they do in magazines and such is to get rid of body fat - all over - you need to get your % of body fat below 5%. so you will need to tone everything else first - if you are overweight - start by running - everyday - at least 20-30 minutes - get your heart rate up. to make your workouts flow better cut out all soda pop, fried foods and fatty foods. once you have lost extra pounds, start working out your arms and chest and legs and eat lean and healthy foods - with those muscle groups in place to continue burning calories you can start to focus more on your abs. crunchs and sit ups are both great ways to strengthen and scuplt great abs but you gotta burn off all your belly fat first.
