The ACLU sometimes defends Christians when their civil rights have been violated. In fact, all the ACLU does is attempt to defend people's freedom. That's why it's the American Civil Liberties Union.

Not too mention that many of the issues the ACLU deals with, such as stopping torture, are things that Christians agree with.

So what's up with all this ACLU hate?

It's because the ACLU works from a purely Constitutional basis. This includes defending everyone, no matter their religion, sexual orientation or race. All Christians do not hate the ACLU, at least those who understand its purpose. Fundamentalist Xtians are another matter altogether. I think their confusion lies in thinking this country is a theocracy...

2 words: Scope's Trial. The ACLU has actively fought the Christians the two in courtroom and out. in the event that they might depart us on my own, we does no longer have a situation with them. inspite of the undeniable fact that, they are ineffective set against any component of Christianity being a ingredient of society. They threaten to sue any college that dares to the two doubt evolution or instruct creationism. each so often they sue, understanding the school does not have the money for the style of trial. it truly is completely criminal to instruct creationism in public colleges, however the ACLU opposes any college that does. inspite of the undeniable fact that, while different religions attempt to place issues into the colleges, the ACLU screams "Freedom of religion!" yet while Christians attempt to place something into the colleges, they scream, "Separation of Church and State!" The Christians are adversarial in the direction of the ACLU because of the fact the ACLU is adversarial in the direction of Christians.

I don't know. I'm a christian, and I don't hate the ACLU, my family doesn't and my friends at church don't, as far as I know. In fact, some of them are encouraging me to join the ACLU, but I want to be a writer.

The ACLU as you know it actually began as the American Communist Lawyers Union. That should give you some idea. But look at the bright side. This organization will eventually begin to work to undo all the things they have done. Lawyers, like cockroaches will always survive. They will have taken away all the civil rights of one side and have no work. Then it will begin to work in the other direction.

Cause the ACLU helps prevent Christians from walking all over the rights of minority religions by popular vote. Christians would LOVE the ACLU if they happened to be the one's who where usually discriminated against--but no, they are usually the ones who are the persecutors, not the persecuted as they claim.

In America, we may decide most things by majority vote, but civil rights can't be one of those things . . . then minority groups would never get any rights.

Because the ACLU also stands up for the freedoms of other religions and christians hate that. The ACLU gives us all equal rights. Christians want to rule.

Trust me on this one it's not *just* the Christians who can't stand the ACLU.

The ACLU was founded by Communist sympathizers who wanted to establish secular humanism in the U.S. as the predominant belief system.

They have gone after Christians more often than defending Christians. They have sought to rewrite our history and remove Christianity (not "religion") from the public square.

Since you asked lucy to cite examples, I'll join in the fray:

The ACLU filed suit against a Pittsburgh school district to ban the reference of Adam and Eve in a biology class.

Barrow County, Fla., was but one of more than 25 lawsuits filed by the ACLU to remove the Ten Commandants from public facilities.

Litigation filed by the ACLU is pending in Kent County, Mich., against a charter school that allowed prayer and taught creationism. In Elizabeth, Colo., the Elbert County Charter School faces a suit demanding that all references to Christmas be removed from school functions.

Out in the Mojave Desert of California, the ACLU attempted litigation to remove a memorial cross from government land, where it had stood since 1934.

The ACLU brought the superintendent of the Baldwin, Kan., school district into court because he allowed a minister to explain the historical significance of Christmas to an elementary-school class.

Notice a pattern here?

You are out of your mind. The question should be why does the ACLU hate Christianity so much. They may take on 1 case out of 1000 for a Christian just so they can claim they are unbiased, but they turn down many. However, they take almost EVERY case that is against Christianity.

aside from the fact that they are an adjunct of the CPUSA, they have been instrumental in championing cases that prohibit, restrict and obtruct traditional religious expression in the US.

The feeling is that the ACLU tries to WEAKEN our country and strengthen our enemies.
