You could die from a stomach virus (Rotavirus) if you do not get medical attention and refuse to take rehydration liquids.

This is a real problem with babies and toddlers who get rotavirus infections. Every year many die needlessly because of dehydration.

The virus has a protein on its surface that is chemically like Cholera toxin. Getting infected with the virus causes nausea, vomiting and lots of watery diarrhea, like cholera. If fluids are not replaced, usually by intravenous infusion, the patient could die of dehydration.

Babies and toddlers often resist being given liquids by mouth when they are sick, even using a syringe to squirt pedialyte into the mouth gets greeted by clenched teeth. This situation could be fatal and the baby should be taken to the hospital immediately.

No, dying from a stomach virus is not going to happen, certainly not from a normally healthy teenager getting the flu, you puke for a day or two, then get better, you are not going to die, andd neither is your friend
