Dogs usually have a pretty easy pregnancy. For the first 5 weeks or so, you won't be able to tell much difference in your dog as far as size, eating, etc. During the last month, they really start to put on weight, the teats start to fill out more. Their appetite will increase considerably. Make sure she is eating a good quality puppy food during these last weeks.Normally pregnancy is around 63 days, a few more or less one day is okay. During the last week, you can see the pups moving around a lot as they get ready to move into position for the birth. Mama dog will start looking for a special place to have her babies. Make sure you have a cardboard box, or a regular whelping box ready for her when labor begins. Try to be home with her during the last few days before she is due in case she needs some help with delivery. She will rest more, and mine usually are even more cuddlesome than before. I will be happy to answer any more questions that you might have.

The gestation is usually around 63 days. make sure she is eating and drinking normally and is getting a vitamin to help those little puppies grow. Also, about a 12 hours before she starts to go into labor her temperature will drop. Contractions can last for up to 12 hours...or more. It can take a few hours between puppies so don't be scared. But if you have any questions regarding her pregnancy call your vet.
