I am a native Californian and tired of the traffic, violence, expenses, want to raise my kids somewhere where I can slow my life down and afford to buy a big house with property. any ideas?

well. i live in alabama and i love it. not too many people and the area is very pretty. i doubt you are planning a cross country move, but yes there are some wonderful states that are not overpopulated and are great areas of the country to raise kids. good for you for wanting the best for your family and not letting "location, location, location" be your only guide. :)

btw - idaho gets damn cold in the winter... lol. you might try some areas that are a little more temperate? gl

great places include: tennessee, north and south carolina, colorado, georgia, and of course my home, alabama. i have more friends that have moved here from up north or out west and been so surprised at how much they love it and the people. they are so confused bc no one ever told them what a great part of the country the south is.

I live in Arkansas, right outside of Little Rock. It is a GREAT place to raise a family and on close to LR to work there and make money for your family. I am about to put my house on the market---.5 acre 2300 sq home for 185,000. Just to give you an idea!!

By the way, why would someone rate my answer as bad---I love my home and wanted to tell the person who asked. Don't be pricks!!

Ditto on the crowds... Please let me know if you get any good leads... I'll do the same... P.S. If you like California other than what you mentioned DO NOT come to the south... It will be too close-minded for you and the humidity some places is awful...
