Why do people complain about illegal immigrants lowering wages if they are sometimes paid $12-15/hour?

I want to know why people complain about illegal immigrants "lowering wages" when many of those illegal immigrants get paid better than many legal citizens. The average illegal immigrant is not paid $12-15/hour...but some of them are! And they are not "skilled" laborers. The only advantage they have over low-income legal workers is that they aren't lazy!

The concern isn't the amount of money they are making.

The concern is that they are the type of people who are willing to commit a crime. You can tell that, because they DO commit a crime, by entering the country illegally.

Legal immigrants are welcome, illegals are not. How hard is that for you liberals to understand?

Not true. Illegal immigrants work for less which tilts the playing field of business. The employer of legitimate employees paying a living, fair wage has to either lower his cost (wages) or go out of business. This is primarily true in the construction and agricultural fields. Now if the illegal worker gets false documentation, they will get paid the same as anyone else only to create massive problems for the real person when the IRS files charges for false tax reporting. This is a very common problem. Wabash National (one of the nations largest semi-trailer manufacturers) just had to fire 30 Hispanic workers. They all had valid-looking documentation until someone discovered that they all had the same social security number.

What's wrong with you people?Why can't you understand that these "illegal immigrants" just want to work ( the majority).Why are you so worried about this?You should be thanking God that you were born in a free country with huge opportunities.Why do you care if they earn 12 to 15 $/hour?If you can do better that that..good for you.The point is that THEY WORK !. They don't go on streets robbing peoples.Why America is called "the country of all possibilities" if you don't let them to make some money to survive?

a lot of those jobs are supposed to be paid 20-25 an hour, so they are lowering wages, there was this legal mexican guy on the news and he's a carpenter, he wants us to stop illegal immigration because he makes 25 an hour and the illegals are going to make his pay go down to 15

True there are several here making 15-20 dollars an hour doing painting,roofing,re bar,pools,these are things that our citizens would not do and the employers were forced to take the ones willing to do the work.

Americans in general are just lazy and don't care to do certain jobs. These people just do the jobs that we think we're "too good" to do. Once Americans start actually working hard and stop being lazy, then there won't be as many illegal immigrants getting these jobs.

GRADUATE, GIDGET, there are american citizens who will do these jobs and still do them. Some americans are lazy and some are not, just like all other races some are lazy and some not. You people keep forgetting who did these jobs before the mexicans. It was americans as well as other white immigrants so its not just mexicans who do this work.
